Topic Review (Newest First)
MM in CanadaHi Connie:
Where is Trevor on the DS growth charts? Do his height and weight match up? (ie: is he the same percentile on both?) Those are always one indicator of how things are going....

I also agree that some children are just naturally going to be smaller and slighter than others.

HiCourtConnie,
My daughter at that age weighed 15 lbs and was 26 inches high so if it isn't interfering with his health I would just go with the flow. Can he eat bread? That can help with weight gain. Pediasure sounds like a good idea. Is he a good eater? I've heard alot of opinions from more sugar to eggs. But in my opinion he sounds about right for that age. I've seen alot of DS children that are small and some that are larger. Courtney weighed 24 lbs. for 2 years and now she is at 33lbs at age 6. I don't know if I can be any help but I didn't want you to beat yourself up over something that may be part of his particular makeup.
Jennifer PopeConnie,

I can't say much about the dietician part. It was offered to me, but Kaitlyn was born at a healthy 8lbs 14oz and once we left the hospital, never had a problem gaining weight.

With regard to the teeth issue. Kaitlyn got her first tooth when she was 14 months. She is now 20 1/2 months and if I tried real hard, but I'm not that brave, I could probably count 10 or 12 teeth in her mouth now.

If you decide to use the dietician, let us know how it goes. I would be interested to hear what they recommend.

ConnieTrever's ST is strongly suggesting we have a dietation brought on board to help us with his diet. He has not gained any weight after his surgery. He is only 17 lbs and 271/2 inches long. Everything the DT has recommemded I have tried, I have gone so far as to add butter to his baby food (I purchased a food grinder and make my own)I also started him on Pediasure to help give him some calories.

His teeth have not come in yet - he only has his two front teeth. Does it take along time for baby teeth to come in? Thank you for taking the time to read my post.
