| brenda | My baby was born with an imperforate anus and his DS was only detected @ birth. I have an AFP only cos I was screened -ve for DS + a low risk (1 in 3300). At my post-natal check-up with my doc, she told me that an imperforate anus was not really visible on the ultrasound scan. Guess I buy her story. | | pkobrien | my dearest friend delivered a healthy boy this week with down's syndrome. (the new baby does have duodenal altresia and had surgery this morning to correct it. he came through with flying colors!) she had a level 2 ultrasound performed after her AFP indicated there was a possible problem. the level 2 showed a chromosone normal child. did not show any intestinal or bowel problems. what are the percentages of problems missed by this ultrasound? i feel they would like to of been better informed before the child's delivery of any potential problems. opted not to do the amnio after the level 2 looked so positive. thank you for any information. |
