It is very definitely a controversial thing!
Our son is 7 years old and he was on MSB supplement for about 4 years. We started it, because he was often very ill when he was little. He used to get ear infections all the time and a cold would turn into bronchitis and eventually pneumonia. He ended up missing a lot of his therapy sessions because of it and was very miserable. The vitamins seemed to really boost his immune system. As far as the vitamins making some kids smarter, like some people claim, I dont think so. Nobody can cure DS. I just wanted my son to have better health and tried to strengthen his immune system. Thats all. Although, Tom has said many times that an over the counter vitamin mix will do just as much. He would be able to tell you what they use for their son.

We have stopped giving the MSB about 6 months ago to see how Erik would do without them. I guess his immune system and his body have matured now, so that not every cold turns into a major illness.
There was no longer a point in spending all that money, cause it is fairly expensive.

Good luck to you,

Happy 1st BIRTHDAY TREVER! http://www.downsyn.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=234 vonda Just got the test results http://www.downsyn.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=244 Beth Foraker     My husband and I found out our little seven month old baby had DS about an hour after he was born.  I treasure that hour because it was the one and only time in Patricks life that he hadnt been labeled.  My mission is for the world to see Patrick as simply that NOT Patrick with Downs.  We were devastated by the news because it was so shocking.  Your way of finding out, although equally shocking, gives you sometime to prepare.  I feel like we werent joyous, truly joyous until after he came home from his heart surgery and that was when he was 11 weeks old.  Yes, he had the AV canal defect and had open heart surgery at 9 weeks old.  That was terrible but a HUGE blessing!  I just kept telling myself how happy I was that he was so little and not going through this as a toddler or older.  It is a blessing that they wont remember any of that and that their tiny heart can be really repaired.  I will be happy to go into the nitty gritty with you about the hosital stuff if you e-mail me. Right now, be kind to yourself.  Try not to feel guilty about any emotion you are having.  They are all normal and OK.  Youre no monster for having any of the emotions you have.  The only kernel of advice I can give you is (Remember Im very very new at this too)that love is an AWESOME power. It will get you through it all.  Accept it from anyone who offers it right now and get ready to be a veritible fountain of it when your baby is born.  Best of luck to you!!  Believe it or not, you are very very lucky. ]]> Still feeling blue after 7 years, sometimes http://www.downsyn.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=249 Joan
Please dont think that Im condeming anyone for their feelings...I know that Ill still cry over Bens DS in 10 years and even 50 years, but Im just saying that I try to look at the bigger picture when Im feeling down.  I totally think that being sad is a "normal" feeling for us moms.]]>
