Anyone have any good air fare deals?
we are now thinking about flying.
I think that driving will drive me nuts.

This is soooo not what I thought, but I map quested our trip and it estimated:
13 hours, 19 minutes Total Est. Distance: 835.03 miles
I cannot believe this...anyone from up North ever drive down South...I am shocked!!! Shocked in a good way...I thought it was much further.
Here is the map:

We will be driving down. Flying with Mikey would drive me nuts!!!
We will probably stop over in Washington (Michel has an aunt that lives there). Fortunately my kids love going for long drives. Mikey watches DVDs and Beth listens to her iPod and sleeps (two favorite activities of most teenagers).
I should add that we drove to Charolotte when Beth was a baby and it was not a big deal. Just make sure that you plan your bathroom breaks because there are few things worse than being caught with the next rest stop 63 miles away.

Thanks Tom! We thought driving would cost as much as flying but maybe we could give Joey some culture by seeing some country side!
Any suggestions as to where to stop along the way?????...Anyone ever been to Roanoke, VA????...anything to do there?????
What about Charlotte, NC??????????

Stephanie - not sure if ya'll are still planning on driving, but for NC, there is Carowinds (theme park) near Charlotte along with a HUGE Bass Pro Shop. you'll be driving through NASCAR country - i know there are some NASCAR museums in that area also. and if you like Mayberry RFD - you'll be coming right by Mt. Airy - the home town of the Andy Griffith Show. they have Floyd's Barber Shop, etc., etc. http://www.visitmayberry.com/
i'm still trying to talk Joe into going to Atlanta to meet up with you all, even if we don't do the convention. it will be about 7 hrs. for us.
are ya'll driving or flying??? aj

Stephanie,
Not too sure what there is to do in Roanoke, but a little north of there is the Virginia Safari Park (www.virginiasafaripark.com). I think it is right off of the interstate. From what I have heard, it is like going on a safari in your own car...you just drive through. Looks very cool...I'm sure the kids would love it. I haven't been there yet, but I want to go this summer.
