My son Eli is six 1/2 and doing really well with the potty training except for one very frustrating thing, bowel movements at home. at school he hasn't had an accident in 4 weeks (he also doesn't go BM very often there) but at home he always goes in his pants. The school thinks it is a control issue which I agree but I am not sure how to change it. I ignore but clean him up after a BM in underwear and then talk about where that goes and he agrees, but then again will do it. The few times he has gone in the toilet we praise and reward with M&Ms and he seems to be really excited! I have tried to mimic the schools potty routine with no success. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. (Oh he wears underwear all day and almost never has a accident with peeing. )

Shawen is 9 and just the opposite. I wouldn't be quick to join into the "control" issue. If he doesn't pee in his pants, then why would he poop in them?
I would think it may be a muscle thing - that he just doesn't know it's coming. I have pretty much resigned myself to the fact that Shawen just doesn't feel the urge to urinate yet. I just don't think he would wet his pants if he could help it.
