My son is 5 and he holds his bladder for hours, but he usually will not relieve himself unless he has a diaper on. We are having major trouble finding diapers or pull ups that will work for him. We use Goodnights with liners and plastic pants at night and he wets through them every night. We use size 7 pampers during they day and they work well, but we are looking for something we can get through medical supply, so medicaid will cover it.
He weighs nearly 40 lbs, so regular diapers are very snug on him. He doesn't drink more than 4 oz. of liquid after 4:30 pm, so it's not that he is drinking too close to bedtime.
I would really appreciate any advice on night time diaper help. I'd also welcome any advice on other diapers or pull ups we could use during the day.
Thanks!

Boy, I don't know. We use the Goodnights for Melissa day and night. Perhaps you could try the next size up in The Goodnights. Perhaps the bigger size will hold more.

We can get the name brand diapers with Melissa's state insurance.
Can your insurance provider make any suggestions? Would they have a list of what is covered and what is not?

If we use the bigger size Goodnights, they gap and leak more.
Our medical supply co. has given us samples of diapers and pull ups in Michael's size and we haven't found one yet that will work for him. One is a huge white diaper that is lined both inside and out with a plastic that makes him break out, plus it doesn't have multiple gathers around the legs, so if they gap when he sits or lies down, it's not pretty.
The pull up is not lined with plastic, but it's very loose fitting and gaps around the legs as well. I feel bad for parents who know diapers are going to be in their future long term. This has been very frustrating.
They will not cover brand name diapers.

See what you think of these.
www.medexsupply.com They are called Prevail AllNites. They are made for older children, but the weight (size) starts at 40 lbs.

Underjams actually didn't work as well as Goodnights for Michael. Wouldn't it be nice if there was one sure thing that worked well for everyone??
I will check out the All Nites. Thanks for the suggestions.

Does your states medicaid cover using Edge park? They have a few there and the good nights....which is what I get sent through Medicaid for Colin at night and Devon during the day!
Second...... I have to use a bladder pad (I get the generic extra heavy (think super period pad) taped into Devon's diapers at night........) He pees all at onece twice a day...... afternoon we have him some what trained to go near a toilet if he, I the stars and all thing bright and wonderful are working in our behalf!
it keeps me from doing sheet every day ....just when he now decides to play with himself and falls asleep with his hand in the pants..... then I get sheets....stuffed animals and occasionally the wall!
And there are months of my life from last fall referred to the great diaper debacle of October 09....... in certain circles of my family!
I really hate trying to find diaper that fit and keep workingf and jumping through hoops and all that!

Is he ready for potty training? He sure sounds like it. It would solve your issue.

wish that potty training was the answer for us! Janna is potty trained during the day but cannot make it thru the night. she will go @ midnight if we wake her up and sometimes be dry at 6am, sometimes not.
any suggestions? should we NOT get her up in hopes that her bladder will one day hold it all night or should we get her up half way thru the night?
we fear that her bladder may never be able to make it thru the night if we wake her up at midnight to go - plus we hate to interrupt her sleep especially since school started.
