Here we go again IEP problems

Well it just seems that all I do is gripe about my sons school but they serious issues. With all the other junk going on with them that I do not even want to get into my husband went to my sons track meet and smelt poop. He looked Briar over and he had poop that was dried on his leg, on the back of his shirt, and up by his face. I even have photos because my hubby brought the camera. Well this was at 8:30 in the moring and the bus driver told me she changed him when he came back from the track meet. OMG so he sat in it the whole time. I have no idea why my husband did not get up and have a fit but he said he did not want to bring attention to Briar or hurt his feelings. WE called the principal and she said that he just probally got excited and pooped in his pants my hubby said that he told her someone was not doing their job and that he wanted this handled. Well nothing has come of it so far. Today round 2 they call me at work and say that Briar has diarrea and has pooped 2 times and is out of clothes and we need to come get him. So Wes gets there and gets him and brings him home. He finds a big poo ball in Briars shorts. They could have put it in the tolet. OH my I am just at my witts end with these people. I have reported the school to the state and I am hope this fixes some of our problems. I am going to demand that they put in his IEP that they have someone with him when he goes potty. These people are driving me nuts and we got many years to go. UGH! They are not following his IEP and thats why I turned them into the state then they wrote me a big letter saying it was my falt that things were not being done. THEY LIED on part of it saying they sent papers hometo inform me of a test and they did not! The LEA told me and the advocate that the test just slipped her mind and that she was sorry. WELL I will stop for now. Thanks for listening!

Lori,

I just want you to know that I'm so sorry to hear that. That's not right.

I home school, so I don't have to deal with the PS, but I know of so many families whose children had IEPs that were never followed. There would be OT and PT on the IEP of one child and the therapies didn't happen. One child had dyslexia and was supposed to get one on one reading for a half hour every week and he was lucky if he ever got five minutes. Unfortunately this is all too common.

Praying you get these issues addressed and rectified. My Melly is still not potty trained and the idea of your little guy sitting in poop long enough for it to dry breaks my heart. Furthermore, How is that supposed to help him with mainstreaming or inclusion if he smells of poop?

First did you put the incident in writing to document what happened? Do that if you haven't. Verbally demanding they follow the IEP means nothing but I would call a meeting and quick. I would write and document and keep on going until the documentation of non-compliance is acknowledged.

I am extremely disgusted for you and your precious son! That is just not acceptable! What state are you in? Maybe a local news station would like to hear about it?! (she says with her sinister laugh). LOL

GOOD LUCK!

A.

Ditto to everything else that was already said!

But, some clarification. You said,

Quote:

Who is "she"? Was the bus driver referring to "she" the teacher? Or did the bus driver change him? I'm hoping it was the teacher!

Is it possible to find someone as an advocate to go to the IEP meetings with you? Someone who knows the laws so you don't get bullied. I'm wondering if someone in your local Down Syndrome Society or the local ARC may have some names for you.

I skip soooo many details oops! The bus driver is just one of his 3 aides. She is the one who will actually change him and not let him sit in pee or poo.

I have a advocate that is coming with me and we are recording the meeting this time so that they cannot lie.

I reported them not following the IEP to the State Department of ED and I spoke with them and they are working on it the person in charge said that it takes time cause these people are all volunteers most of them are lawyers teachers ect and will go into the school and do an investigation,

SO Briars IEP is Tuesday so if I dont get something from the school about the poo thing I may go ahead and report it too cause I have pictures.

WE LIVE in Paris Arkansas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My son goes to Paris Elementary School so PLEASE dont move to Paris!!!
