I'm curious (from the first tooth thread). When did your kids lose their first tooth? Grady will be 6 in a couple weeks and no sign of it. But he also didn't get his first tooth until 13 months.
Will loosing be delayed also?

Logan got his first tooth when he was 18 months old . . . and lost all four of his front teeth when he was 6 1/2.

Good question and I can't wait to see replies. Oliver got his first tooth at 11 months. He is now 5 1/2 and no sign of losing a tooth yet. I keep thinking it could happen any time now. But nothing.

Callum lost his first, bottom middle, last summer (so age 6 1/4) and quite quickly lost the one next to it as well. It was a wait of about 9 months before he lost one of the top middle ones and the one next to it is wobbly.
Callum got his first tooth around his 1st birthday I think, can't really remember!

Angela's first 7 teeth had to be pulled by the dentist because they wouldn't fall out. She was 7 1/2.
She has a molar right now that his sitting sideways, with the new tooth already in. She goes to have it pulled next week. It even pushed her braces out of line and still won't fall out!
I know part of the problem is a lot of kids with DS don't wiggle their teeth. Typical kids get kind of obsessed with their loose teeth, which is what helps them fall out. We have to remind Angela to wiggle a loose tooth but a couple times a day doesn't do much! LOL
The tooth she's having pulled is the last baby tooth to come out. She does have 5 others but they don't have adult teeth behind them, so they need to stay in as long as possible! They're all together in one area so if they all fall out the bone will start breaking down. Instead we'll put implants in so that doesn't happen. The orthodontist told me if one goes, they'll all go soon after.

Robert was six in April and no loose teeth yet!
A few of his peer with DS have lost a few teeth.....so I know its not far away.
Robert has tiny teeth, very small.....like they havn't come down from his gums and haven't grown down....very like teeth a toddle gets at the start.
I'm hoping to see the dentist over the summer.
Any other kids have very small teeth? Is this a problem?

I just asked Nate's dentist when I should expect him to loose his first tooth. He replied around 8 years old as Nate didn't get his first tooth till a few days before turing 3 years old. He said most kids have their baby teeth about 5 years or a little more.

Adam is 6 and 2 months and has not lost any teeth yet and there is no sign that any are loose. His typically developing brothers who are the same age (triplets), Oliver has also lost no teeth wheres Liam has lost 2 quite a while back.

Aleena's first tooth came in around 18-19 months. She lost her first tooth last June and the second tooth last September. So she was 5 1/2. They were the bottom front. Right now, one of her top front teeth is a little loose. I'm hoping it doesn't come out before her dance recital on the 18th! LOL

Joey is 6 (as of March) Joey got all his teeth in typical order and in a typical time frame. He has has his 1st loose tooth now - bottom front......I would say we may have another month or so of it being wiggly, he doesn't play with it much. I htink I am more excited for the "ToothFairy" to come than he is. When you ask him what is the toothfairy going to bring him, he will tell you "dollars!!" But my older (typical) son didn't lose his first teeth (bottom front) until the END of 2nd grade (8 years old)!!! He is 11 now and has only lost 8 teeth!!!!!
Edited to say......
Joey lost his first tooth on June 12!!!!! He wanted the ToothFairy to give him FOUR DOLLARS, so she did (she would have given him $10 for his first tooth)!!!!

I'd heard kids with DS can be missing teeth. Hopefully with no adult teeth to push them out those 5 will stay put for a good long time.

Hi, Shawn didn't start losing teeth until he was 8. his dentist told me that MOST not all but most children with DS lose their teeth later than the typical child. Also watch out for the 6 year old molars. Shawn is just cutting them now. Some children just breeze through it others it is very painful. For my poor little guy.. He has had a rough time cutting them.

Andrew got his first tooth around 8-9 months. He's 5.5 & no loose ones yet. I have a few friends whose typical kids just lost their first teeth & they're 7.5.

Perse lost her first tooth at just shy of 6. However, that was due to bouncing on her bunk bed and taking a dive off it - needless to say teeth were knocked out! But that said other teeth were pretty close behind - and at least one went wobbly and in the end I had to pull it out for her as she wouldn't go to sleep as it was annoying her!
