I think my husband has nixed the idea of us adopting the little boy over here. But I would love for him to have a home, so I just thought I would see if anyone else is interested!
He's 10 months old now, no significant health problems (heart fine, thyroid fine); a little cross-eyed, and has had pneumonia once. He had surgery right after birth because he didn't have an anal opening (is that Hirschprungs?), but seems to have no long-term effects. He eats and drinks well, responds a lot to people, smiles and is even starting to babble consonants. He's super-sweet and super-snuggly. He rolls a lot and is starting to sit. He is currently being cared for by a friend of mine here in her home, who has had him basically since birth. She's doing an excellent job. I loaned her my Woodbine House books, and she's been doing therapy with him. She always speaks English to him, so that's what he's familiar with.
She's tried to get him on the international adoption list, but the orphanage here doesn't want to do all the paperwork for it when they don't think anyone will want a child with DS. They told her if she can find someone who wants to adopt him, they will do it, but not otherwise. So if anyone is interested, please PM me and I will send you more details. And I just have to add again what a sweet little boy he is!
