Abby's 17 mo. and drinks from a straw sippy cup during the day but still takes a bottle before bed. In fact, she throws sippy cups on the floor if I try to give her one before bed! The bedtime bottle has always been part of her routine - it calms her down and is the best signal that its time to stop playing and get ready to sleep. Ahhh I don't want to take it away but at the same time, I feel like maybe she's getting a little old!
So when did you take away the bottle for good?

I think you will find people answering all over the map. With my son with DS i was to afraid to give him a bottle, only breast till straw cup at around 11 months so he never had a bottle. My oldest loved solid food and took a cup well at a year, no need for bottles either. With my twins, we have like you been doing a bottle before bed although they drink from a sippy now. I also would like to get rid of the bottle, sometimes earlier is easier as you dont have a more obstinate two year old to battle but whatever works for you and your family. I've seen typical four year olds with a bottle but i think most lose it by two i would think.

Noah used the bottle until just before he was 4. Noah also has significant feeding issues, always has, and the only way to get anything into him was the little bit by bottle that he would take.
For my typical kids, it's been different. They are all done with the bottle by 2, and use a sippy cup after that.

you are just going to have to bite the bullet and do it. i was the same way with rachel. while she didn't have a nighttime bottle, she did drink from bottles until she was around 20 months. i just couldn't do it. i finally was forced to because she bit holes in all the nipples. i just kept throwing them away until they were all gone and she was forced to just us the straw cup. guess what? she didn't even put up a fight! i think if you take it away and just keep doing the routine without it she will be ok. she'll probably pitch a fit the first couple nights but then fall into a new rhythm. her last drink could be her drink with dinner and then that is all she needs.

Angela was 15 months old. (long story about her feeding issues that I won't go into now.) But I just threw them away. If it's not there, you can't cave to the demand. LOL
Now Asher is 7 and tomorrow we're flying home after adopting him from a Serbian orphanage. I just discovered he will still take a bottle (and i have a blog post coming on this, cuz it's kinda cool for bonding reasons) and I think I'm going to keep using it at least for a few weeks so I can "un-teach" some really bad self feeding habits he has. No idea if this theory will work, and some feeding therapist is probably gonna jump all over me, but it makes sense in my head. LOL

We switched Kole on his 1st birthday. He had no problems and was actually more interested in a sippy cup so we just ran with it!!! I know alot of people who have tried to take away bottles and it obviously didnt go as smoothly.
