I put Nicholas' enalopril in the cupboard after his giving it to him at 9:00 this morning. It says it needs to be refrigerated. I am about a week from when I can get it refilled. Does anyone know if it will be OK? Typically it is dispensed in tablet form, but since he is unable to take anything by mouth, it is a compound. We have medication that says 'Do not crush or chew', but the Dr's instructions say to crush and mix w/ water - for the same reason the enalopril is in compound form.
I am totally loosing it. Not the first time I have done something like this - I have more than once put the milk in the cupboard and the cereal in the fridge. Maybe I need to wait until after my first cup of coffee!

My son Isaac takes a compound called Actigall for his enlarged liver, and I did this same thing one day, I put it in the cupboard and didnt realize it until after dinner, I called the pharmacy and as long as it was not a really hot day it should be fine. He said to watch it and see if it starts getting to thick. So I dont know exactly how yours works, but I did do the same thing just a few weeks ago and it was in the 70's here and it was fine.

You may find an all night pharmacy to ask. I know that here my neighbor works all night at Walgreens. If you can't find one anywhere else, I know they have a pharmasist on duty at Walgreens in Bossier City, LA. Anyone that is open would be glad to help.

I did call Walgreen's - I found one that was open 24 hrs. The pharmacist wasn't familiar with enalapril, but looked it up. I thought that it was nice since we don't have scripts filled there. She thought it would be OK as long as it didn't get over 80 degrees. I know it did because I was baking all afternoon and making jerky. It didn't get much over 80 though.
So I called our hospital's pharmacist this morning - that is where we get our scripts and he said it should be OK and that basically it just decreases it's shelf life. We only have about a week left anyway.
The BEST part is that I am not losing my mind! I was beating myself up over putting it in the cupboard all last night. Then this morning when I was getting them around I remembered that DH filled the syringes and I gave them to Nicholas. He is the one that put it in there. But all is well - I am glad that it wasn't me because I couldn't remember doing it. I really thought I was losing it!!
Thanks everyone!
Gwen

Faith is taking Enalapril and I have never refrigerated it. Hers doesn't say it needs to be refrigerated. Maybe it is a different set up and doesn't need to be. Well glad you got an answer.
