Tom. That is a very interesting review. Mine was VERY similar when we did the book club on this list. Though I was alone in feeling this way. Funny enough, your review is nearly exactly what I said, however, I did not have anyone else who agreed with me. I wonder if it had anything to do with the fact that I was one of the few who did not realize the author was on the list while we discussed it. LOL. Very embarrassing, but after reading your review, I feel like I am in good company.
If you all in England, decide to read this book, be ready for an interesting beginning, an overly dramatic middle, and an ending that does not really go with either the beginning or the end, in my opinion. I was definitely looking for more, with all of the reviews I read. Anyway, it will be interesting to see what you all think after you read it. Let us know what you think. Diane

Hello!
Yes we did a discussion of the book and it's below, listed by threads with the beginning initials MKD. And the author participated in the discussion, so you can read her comments as well in one of the threads.
Thanks!

This book has been available for some time now in the UK, I read it a couple of months ago. I did find it quite a good read but not very realistic so I think the reader must remember it is purely fiction and enjoy it for what it is.

Thanks for the link to your review Tom. I almost bought this book at the airport a few weeks ago, but now I'm glad I didn't. I hate books where everyone's lives fall neatly into place. (Reminds me of the Danielle Steel books I used to read in high school! All those strong, hard to tame, wildly successful female characters got boring fast!) You're right, life doesn't happen that way.
Do you remember the author who posted here looking for info from parents of kids with DS because she was writing a book about a couple who have a child with DS? I corresponded with her a little. She let me read the first book in her series, where the couple meet and fall in love, before it was published. I commented to her that I didn't like the happy ending, that life's loose ends don't ever get tied up so neatly. I think she took what I said to heart (not to give myself credit for changing what she was planning on writing or anything - LOL!!!) because the last book of the three was far from neat and tidy. Given the subject matter, I wanted a happy ending! The name of the author is Nikki Arana and the names of the books in the series I'm referring to are The Winds of Sonoma, In the Shade of the Jacaranda, and The Fragrance of Roses. I'd describe them as Christian chick lit.
