Motivating to learn-need suggestions please!!!!

Hi Everyone!

My daughter is in Kindergarten now and she has good fine motor skills and hold a pencil great and loves to draw (even though it's mostly lines and x's and circles).

Anyway, she is the type of kid that will do what is ask when SHE feels like doing it. They have a hard time measuring her skills and where she is at academically or whatever, because she is uncooperative a lot of the time.

This is my question: How can I help teach her counting and ABC's in a fun way so that I can motivate her to WANT to participate in school. I have a feeling it might be a problem with her confidence too and when something is too hard for her, she wil run and hide under a table or get really pouty and say "done" or wants to sit and just hug because she feels insecure about the whole thing.

Any suggestions would be great.

Thanks.

My daughter is 5 and she also will only do what you ask when she feels like doing it. I think she really doesn't understand why she has to answer for testing. For instance she knows her alphabet and can identify letters but only when she wants to she will rarely cooperate when in testing situation is asked. She is really behind in her fine motors skills and it's hard to motivate her to do anything fine motor.

Mackenzie really likes music and sesame street so she loves to sing songs and try to teach her things through music. She also has foam letters for the bath tub which she plays with and cooperates a lot better in the bathtub. We also struggle trying to find fun ways.

She sounds like she is doing great with her fine motor skills I find when Mackenzie is focusing on one skill it's hard to try to teach another
