One of the big areas that made me first suspect Hannah had dual diagnosis was the lack of eye contact
I really struggle to get her to make eye contact with me. This morning I was doing her work session and she did great at saying words to flashcards but when it comes to her making eye contact, it is zero
I look at other children with DS ( and now we have another child with DS going to the same school as Hannah and I see her most days and she is 3 years younger than Hannah - she has great eye contact ) and it kills me with how they look at me and Hannah just doesn't. She seems locked inside that little world of hers
Do other people here who's children have dual diagnosis with autism get much eye contact
Anyone got any suggestions for getting Hannah to look at me?

Jo, next week I'll try to remember to videotape Kayla's ABA session where they are working to get her to look at you when her name is called. It's pretty interesting. She's gotten much better with eye contact since we started it.
