Getting curcumin into a preschooler

We've been trying to give Christopher Longvida Curcumin in the evenings, mixed with his supper, but it's turning into quite a mess! Whereas the powder in his gingko capsules comes out easily, the curcumin is hard-packed in there. By the time I manage to peel the outer layer off, my fingers are all yellow. His bowl and tray and bib are now stained yellow. And it doesn't come out of clothing very well. His teeth even end up yellow sometimes! And I'm only giving him 500mg at a time, whereas 1000mg is recommended. Has anyone successfully administered this to a child too young to swallow a capsule whole, and if so, how?

Thanks,
Jan

Yeah I'm giving Noah curcumin, I give him only 500mg, but it's not the longvida. It's a capsule that is packed with powder...and I just slowly mix it and hope that it doesn't make too much mess LOL.

We give Alexandrine Longvida Curcumin (2 capsules per day). Alexandrine was tube fed and that was really hard to get to go through the tube so I find orally is easier.

We tried powder and capsules.
Powder: tends to fly all over the place (eletrostatic). Messy if you drop the container.
Capsules: Hard to empty but after practice, I can empty them by separating the two parts and squeezing with two fingers starting at the opening moving them slowly towards the other end.

We use capsules because I dropped a full container of powder on the floor once (at a friend's house), cleaned the floor for several hours, did 2 loads of laundry and decided that powder just wasn't working for me.

I empty the capsules in fruit purees, apple sauce or yogourt - 2 capsules in about one yogurt container or equivalent purees. In the beginning, I fed her to make sure there wasn't a staining mess on her but now that she's eating better, she eats it herself.

Thank you! I tried it in yogurt this afternoon, and it worked great. So did your squeeze technique.
