Hi, I am new here. I have a brother that has downs. He is 54 and has been a joy. He was born when parents were told to Give there kids away and he would only live for a few years. When my brother was born, my parents didn't no what downssyndrome was. The actually never used the term downs syndrome then. Well he is now 54 and healthier than all of use. I know the majority of people on this site have young kids but you have any question about aging adults with downs syndrome, please ask. I wish we had the Internet when my brother was born, we had nothing, no integration into schools, no help. This is a beautiful site. Enjoy your kids because they will give you nothing but joy for many years. They go through many stages, some at the time were challenging but today we laugh about all the quirks my brother had. Talk to you all soon.

Welcome to Downsyn!
Glad you're onboard - I'm thinking you have a lot of experience from a sibling's point of view, as well as having a lot to offer to both new and "older" parents.

Nice to meet you and your brother....what's his name?
My brother and sister are married into families that have grown up adults with DS. One is a guy almost forty, the other is a gal forty five!
Man I am in awe of those older parents who had two swim against the tide to give their kids and now adults full whole lives.
To me these parents are amazing! A part of me thinks they just did what they had to do.....but deep down I know it was much much more than that!
Anyways.....I'm Linda, mom to Robert who is 7 and has DS. I'm delighted to have you on board.....Welcome!
