My daughter will be 13 in July and entering 8th grade in September 2015. I am looking ahead to her high school years and I am scared to death.
There are no after care programs for kids in the school where my daughter is going, which means I will have to rely on the kindness of strangers to
help me get my kid home and watch her.
My mother has been a great help with this in the summer because the programs are 9-330 and I work 730-4. I am single mom. My mother is
80 years old and won't be around forever to help (she is in very good health though).
I don't have a lot of trust when it comes to having strangers deal with my daughter. I am really scared like should I quit my job? I have been a government employee for almost 19 years and I planned to stay here until
I retired in 11 years (I'm 51).
I don't know what advice anyone has, but I just had to put this out there to
folks that would understand. She is my only child and her dad is no help to
me.

Anybody you can say this to? Social worker's best -- someone whose job it is to know who can help.

I just want to say I feel your pain! I too am a single mom, my son has one more year at his school then starts high school, it scares me to death. That being said, he has never had any aftercare program that would work for him at his school. It is a scary thing entrusting our innocent kids to someone. Definitely hope you didnt have to quit your job! Thinking of you-
