Thanks Tom for the new thread
I went to a dual diagnosis conference and there are definitely traits they mentioned to me that Hannah has that she shows signs of autism
delayed speech
slow to walk
playing with hair
obsessive about an object ( she is with her dolly )
spinning round and round
little or no eye contact
not good in groups ( prefers to sit and observe )
these were just a few of them
I know that alot of people thought that I was imagning things at first but I know that she has all of the above traits
at the moment though she is doing well at school so I have decided against pushing for a definitely diagnosis until next year ( as i want to get her into the next class at school )
here in the UK they say that they don't diagnose before 2 years and its usually 4 years old they diagnose
I would be interested to hear of other peoples stories of dual diagnosis

Dr. Capone says that he usually prefers to diagnose late with kids with Down syndrome but usually he isn't telling the parents anything they don't know already when he gives them the diagnosis.
Mikey had a similar range of traits.
Delayed speech (he still doesn't speak more than a word or two).
Obsessive about objects (his is a towel that he likes to shake... but it has to be just the right kind of towel and has to shake just a certain way)
Not good with other children generally, although that is getting better.
he has always been very good with eye contact and loves hugs and kisses and lots of physical contact so that is not typical of autism. In fact, his outgoing personality was the one thing that led Dr. Capone to delay a definitive diagnosis for a year.
