Good question! I've heard that babies with DS are born early. I was also wondering just this morning why if my baby was a good size at birth he wouldn't be growing as quickly as my other three did.

John was born at 37 1/2 weeks. He weighed 8 lbs. 1 ounce.

I am 36 weeks and getting *VERY* nervous! It has been a long road! This website has made me feel more prepared just in case our baby does have down syndrome.
Thank you!

Noah was born at 38 weeks, weighed 7 lbs 11 oz and was 20 1/2 inches long. I was just looking at the form they filled out the day he was born and in the summary field all it says is HEALTHY TERM MALE. In the eye section it says "upward slant", and also "chromasome sent", small ASD noted, and no evidence of AV Canal. It's funny they knew all this but didn't mention a thing to me until the next day. Sorry to ramble, but oh the MEMORIES, sniff sniff. Vonda

Mia was a peanut compared to all these hefty babes!! She was 5 lb and arrived 3 weeks early. Mind you, all of mine were 2 - 3 wks early, and the biggest was 6 lb 11 oz. Lucky me!

Veronika,
I hope to God I am not 12 days overdue! You must have been miserable! I am just about to start charging this little guy rent!
My cousin who has down syndrome was not nearly as healthy as all of your baby's were. She was only 4lbs?oz at full term, although she had no heart abnormalities she did stay in NICU for awhile, but I don't really know why. The only surgery she has had is to correct her eyes - she was cross eyed. She is still very small and skinny for her age.

Hi, Madison was a tiny little mite, only 4.5 pounds at birth. She was born at 38.5 weeks by elective ceaser (had a c/s with my son). She had duodenal artresia and had an operation when she was 3 days old. She breezed through the op and I had her home within 2 weeks. She's now about 17 pounds and she's 13 months old. A real little chubby bub and is as healthy as an ox.

My Grand Angel, Mya Papaya, was born at 38.5 weeks and was 18 inches long, 5.89 oz. She was born by emergency C section as her little heart was not handling the birthing process. Not only that, but she was trying to come into this world sunny side up. And that is how I see her...

Jane was born 3 weeks early via emergency c-section. She was not tolerating the contractions and also had swallowed meconium. She weighed 5lbs 12 oz. and was 19 inches long. The smallest of my kids by far. She did have meconium pneumonia at birth and was in the Nicu for 2 weeks. After that, she has been COMPLETELY healthy-no heart issues or other. She will get glasses next month and I think she will look marvelous in them! She will be 2 on April 9 and last time we checked she weighed 23 lbs. She is tall and lean at the moment. How much more time do you have? Are you sure that the baby has Ds or are you at increased risk? In any case, good luck and let us know how you are doing.

And the story goes....Abby was right at 36 weeks, to the day and weighed 6 lbs. 2 oz. My water broke on my labor ball in my last lamaze class...we were practicing pushes. Four pushes and only 5mg of Nubaine (sp) for the pain, the only thing that went the way I wanted it to. ha ha
