Karli fed herself 3 cheerios yesterday and 2 today!!! My girl is getting so big! And we are about to start babyproofing. She's still not crawling, but she scoots on her behind just enough that she's starting to get herself into trouble. Looks like I'm about to loose my living room for a few years. I'm excited about it at the moment, but ask me again in a few months. I need food ideas too please. She's starting to not like any of her baby food and I'm not very creative as to what to fix for her.
Thanks!
Shylo

Great job Karli....now if you could show Daniel how to pick up cheerios nicely instead of grabbing a handful and trying to shove them all in his mouth!! LOL...
As far as feeding, we have been using alot of canned products because the texture is soft enough that I don't worry about him choking. So we use canned green beans, peas and carrots. I bought wagon wheel shaped pasta and mix that with a veg and he seems to like that. I also roast chicken..because it stays moist and I usually roast potatoes as well and that works well for dinner. I have been trying to just give him what we are eating...but sometimes it doesn't work out too well. I try and keep containers in the fridge with vegs and pasta so I always have something ready for him. He just recently started eating grilled cheese for lunch. I just cut it up small and he likes it. I also just bought the Gerber toddler flake cereal. It is really cool. It's flakes..but it absorbs the milk so it's moist..but isn't as smooth as the regular baby cereal...so it gives them texture. I usually mix fruit in with it...canned pears and peaches are great. He also likes pancakes or waffles for breakfast...and those Nutragrain cereal bars are good too.
Good luck with feeding...and I'll check back later to see if you get any other suggestions...I would love to hear some new receipes. Seems like all we eat at my house is pasta and chicken or we cook out on the grill!! We are so boring!! LOL!!

We give Darah a lot of what we eat as well. Darah's faves are yogurt, mac n cheese, chicken, catfish from Sea Island , potatoes (fixed any way), scambled eggs, taco meat, cheese, sandwich meat, goldfish for snacks, big person oatmeal, green beans, really all veggies, applesauce, oh and I can't leave out her refried beans...they are her no. 1 favorite!! I'm not a big cook, so I haven't gotten really creative... I spoon feed her her refried beans, yogurt, and applesauce, but she can self feed everything else. Her dietician wants her eating yogurt every day, and Darah doesn't mind that at all!! I gave Darah a slice of pizza the other day (broken up), and she downed that sucker!!
Good for Karli!!! Give her a squeeze from me and Darah!!

WTG Karli you sweet girl - and awesome on the crawling! Brock refused baby food and went straight for the real food - lol - he likes to eat just like mom n dad! So not being a great cook I've also gotten creative - similar to Darah - Brock loves man n-cheese (both gerber graduates and mac n cheese which you can buy in individual servings and microwave. He also like the gerber graduate smashers - which I add more cheese to and sometimes some ham or turkey cubes. He also is loving cold cereal - the gerber kind. Brock also eats hamburger, buns, and today we had pot pie. He loves pancakes, carrots and green beans - and especially ice cream - yogurt too! Ok not in that combination!!! Enjoy real food Karli!

Yeah Karli! It's so much fun when they start feeding themselves! I'm not a big cook but Hannah likes pancakes or french toast in the am. Loves grilled cheese sandwiches, gerber pasta(spinach and cheese, carrots and chicken)with ketchup! Fish sticks, peas, fruit-peaches, pears and BANANAS!!

Beans are great - especially lentils. Eliza loves them - i'll cook them sometimes in chicken broth or if i'm in a hurry i'll do canned. Beans and rice is one of her faves. She also loves tofu and avacado and scrambled egg yolks. But her big fave right now is yogurt and grahmn crackers.

Yay! It's so much fun when they start feeding themselves - our first was cheerios too! We try to give Maya whatever we're eating and little by little she's getting better...she's very picky but she does eat a lot of different foods...she's not a fan of condiments though, unlike us! Loves plain pasta, eggs, watermelon(her fave fruit), peas, sweet potatoes, bread, yogurt, oatmeal, and for those of you who haven't yet tried them the gerber puffs are a great snack (come in a few fruit and veggie flavors) - maya goes nuts for them!
