I never started this with Aleena because of all the controversy. But, Gary and I faithfully take vitamins and supplements, why shouldn't she. We used to give her that nasty PolyViSol something or other in her bottle, but once she graduated from the bottle she would not tolerate it any more. We REALLY want to get her on something.

For those of you who DO use something, what do you use, how did you choose it and where do you get it??

I too want to learn more about Nutrivene. I have read the information on their website but I'm curious to know if anyone has read any independent studies. I would be interested to read something that hasn't been written by the manufacturers of this product. Kayla is a terrible sleeper; however, she's been getting better lately. But through kind of a process of elimination, I knew it wasn't an apnea problem, and finally came to the conclusion that she was just having a hard time with digestion. She didn't seem to be in any pain or distress, just slept restlessly. So when I read about the particular digestive enzyme that could be lacking in children with DS, I have become more interested in Nutrivene. I keep hearing about a controvery over it but I don't know what it is?? Is it just that some people claim it works and others swear it does nothing???
What sorts of differences have people noticed in their children after taking it? And what sorts of problems, if any, were children having that led their parents to begin this program??

Thanks!!!!
P.S. I'm still working on this picture thing. Bear with me. I'll figure it out.

Brock hasn't had any additional vitamins at this point - I guess at his 12 month I'm going to talk to his doc. I remember reading something that Chris Burke's parents said about him - that they gave him regular children's vitamins.

We give Eliza nutravene too and so far no complaints. From everything i hear it's the antioxident vitamins and zinc that are really important. And DHA and EPA (omega-3's) are really beneficial too. And we also give her tumeric. There is a research paper coming out soon from the UK regarding their study of i think 5 antioxident vitamins which all indications point to being positive. You start giving a regular vitamin and then when the study comes out, depending on what it says make adjustments.

We give Kepler vitamin E as an antioxidant. We give him the contents of one pearl each day. We chose not to use the Nutrivene product, but are always on the lookout for new information.
