Hi there! My name is Kimberly. I am mom to 7 month old Charlie who has DS. We found out that Charlie has DS when he was 2 months old. Charlie also has a moderate bilateral sensorineural hearing loss. He received his hearing aids when he was 5 months old. Charlie is a joy to have in our lives. We are, of course, diving into the world of Early Head Start services and therapies of all kinds, and I struggle between the invasiveness of all these services coming into our home and being thankful they are there to help our little guy. This site was recommended to me by a friend of my mom's, and seems like such a positive place to ask questions and give and receive support. Glad to be here. javascript:emoticon(' Very Happy

Welcome, Kimberly and what a precious little boy you have! I know the therapies and other appointments can get overwelming, but it is all for Charlie and giving him the best start possible! Just remember to take time for just playing and loving Smile

Hello and welcome! I am so jealous that you didn't know for 2 months. I have always wished I could have at least held my baby without knowing about the DS. Charlie looks like he is doing well. Kimberly...welcome to Downsyn!

Charlie is a cutie and it looks like he and my daughter, Payton, are only a day apart! We found out that Payton had DS at birth and she has not really had any health problems. Although, she did have a tiny VSD, but that has already closed. No other ongoing issues.

Well, you have found an incredible website that is full of knowledge and compassion. This place has been what has pulled me through the past 7 months and I hope you find the same will hold true for you. Can't wait to hear more about you and your family!!

Welcome to the site! Charlie is adorable --- I love the expression on his face. Owen makes a similar expression, and I have been wanting to capture it on film, but haven't yet. I look forward to getting to know you and your family more -- this really is a great site!
