YAY FOR YOU GUYS!! WHOO HOOO!!!!!!
ROFL....5 kids. I've done it a few times.
Courtney, here's what I suggested on the other post:
Three days....three days...it takes a magical 3 days.
[quote]When I was pregnant with Tyler, and Noah was about 15 months old, I decided I wanted him off the pacifier before the baby arrived. (hey, I was very young, and it bothered me he was still using it.)
At that time, we had the very ugly brown playtex pacifiers, with the big honk'en rubber loop on them. Noah knew were every pacifier in the house was. I waited for a weekend when I knew we had NOTHING going on, so I wasn't going to be dealing with a tired cranky kid in public.
Finally one day I cut the end of it off so he couldn't suck on it anymore. He tried all sorts of ways....stuck his finger in the hole, tried to put a toy in the hole, etc. Finally he tried shoving it in his jeans pocket to carry around with him. We'd been spending a lot of time using the word "broken" and putting things in the garbage (like car keys). When he got frustrated enough he came and told me his pacifier was "broked"and dropped it into the trash.
That night was hell. No other way to describe it. It didn't help that I was about 30 weeks with Tyler in my belly, but I slept on the floor in his room anyway. Noah woke about every 10 minutes, feeling around for his pacifier. OMG....we had a 24 hour walgreens up the street and I was soooooo tempted to go there. But I didn't. I stuck it out. Neither of us slept that night. There was no naptime the next day either. Between being overly tired, and having withdrawals from the pacifier...nobody was getting any sleep.
The second night he woke about every 1/2 hr, again, feeling around for his pacifier. Naptime took awhile, but it did happen.
The third night he woke up twice, felt around and went right back to sleep. Naptime the next day was a breeze.
The fourth night he was out like a light in just a few minutes and never woke up again.
Still, THREE very hard nights. [/quote}

I dunno! I had Noah of a bottle by a year, Tyler about 18 months. Once they were capepable of drinking from a cup, then the bottle was just acting as a pacifier.

I'm trying too! I am weaning Avery off all bottles except nap and bedtime. I hope the three days works for her too. She loves her bottle and I had her down to 3 or 4 a day and now I am cutting it to two. I hope to have her totally off by age 2 (two more mos)!

Can I tell you this was the hardest thing to do. But I stuck with it .Kathleen Katie was drinking anywhere from 5 to 7 bottles a day, then went to nothing I literally had to hold her arms down and the cup in her mouth. Last night she was so cranky, she went to bed at 7. But thank God it's all behind us now.
Thank You All My Buddies!!!!!!!!!

I did this with Nolan for sleeping! When Nolan started drinking from a cup, we would use it all day long and then I would give him a bottle only at night. He started waking up 4 to five times a night thinking he was gonna get a bottle of milk which I was giving him. Then I knew I was crazy, because if he can drink from a cup I should just get rid of the bottle. I started to only give him a CUP of water and let him cry if that wasn't what he wanted! It took three nights to get him to go to sleep himself without crying and a bottle. Nolan was 15 months and off a bottle totally! Now Nolan will walk down the hallway to his room making the sign for "sleep". LOL its too cute!
