I just found this forum and wanted to introduce myself. My name is Lori. Dh and I have been married for 3 years and we have a 3 1/2 month old little girl with Translocation down syndrome (on the 14th). We had the triple screen done but it came back negative so Natalie's ds was a complete shock.

Life is settled back down now and we are finally to the point where we are ready to reach out to other families. This is all new to us so I will take ANY advice or words of wisdom that any of you might like to share. We are so in love with our miracle baby and I can't wait to be able to talk about her all I want without having to explain what is "normal". Wink

I look forward to meeting all of you along this journey. Very Happy

Hi there.....just so you know....this board is pretty quiet right now...because many of the members are at DS conference in GA. When everyone is back at the beginning of the week...you will be flooded with welcomes!

So, welcome to Downsyn.....it is addictive.....it is such a family. I can't even tell you how my "extended family" has helped me on my journey so far. I am sure you will love it here....we are here through the good, the bad, the funny and sad!

I am a stay at home mom (29 years old) to Emily...almost 3 and Zachary 14 mo tomorrow. My triple screen was negative too...we found out by accident about DS...the last 12 weeks of my pregnancy were really hard, but here we are...still learning. Zack has had 3 colon surgeries and one open heart and a set of tubes. He is a trooper and such a love. We just moved back home to NH..after 4 long years in MD/DE. So we are thrilled to be with family and friends.

Natalie is just precious...I love the pics of her in her red striped dress....she is beautiful! So, welcome....so glad that you introduced yourselves...can't wait to get to know all of you better!

Welcome!! Glad you found us! I totally get what you mean! And no, it's not horrible! In our everyday life we are not the 'normal' family - but HERE?! We're just like everyone else! Very Happy

I often say, when I'm on here, I feel like everyone in the world has a child with Ds! Wink

Hi and welcome to downsyn!! Natalie is gorgeous and I love your signature etc. This place really feels like home to me and everyone here is so helpful and supportive. No matter what comes up there is always someone who can help. My little Talitha is 8 months old and doing well since her AVSD repair in March. The DS diagnosis is always a shock but you seem to have reached the same point most of us have - realising just how special our little miracles are!!

hi and welcome!!!! our babies are 1 day apart...my jack was born on the 7th! the ds was a shock for us also(neg. triple screen), but we LOVE LOVE LOVE our little guy sooooo much! he has already brought so much joy to our lives! jack will be having his AVSD repaired in a couple months. i loved looking at natalies's page! you remind me a lot of myself! looking forward to getting to know your family!

He is SO adorable and he has the most beautiful skin. Like he has a nice tan. I am jealous. hehe Your girls are so cute too! The sunglasses are a trip.

Hello and welcome! Congratulations on the birth of your daughter. You're in for an amazing ride.

I'm Leah, mom to Noah 19, Tyler 17, and Angela who has DS is 10. I had 16 level II US's with Angela during my 28 weeks of bedrest (8 of which were in the hospital) and 100% perfect triple screens. Even with all of that, SUPRISE!!!

It's my belief that we find out the way God knows we will best handle the news. If we'd had a prenatal diagnosis...well...lets just say my marriage would have ended right then and there instead of 6 years later.

Lori, welcome to the family! Your little Natalie is just a couple days younger than Polly. She was born on April 5th. It's neat to see that there are a few of us with babies that are around three months. I didn't realize that Jackson was so close to. We'll have to really keep in touch and root on our little ones together.
