Hi I would like to introduce myself and thank everyone for posting on this forum. I know it will be a great help for alot of people. Anyway I have lurked downsyn for quite awhile. My daughter Hope is 5 years old and will be starting the lifeskills kindergarten this fall. We recently had evaled for a TSS and they listed her as having PDD and will be receiving 15hrs per week plus 2 hrs per week of mobile therapy. And on Monday we had to the ped. neurodevelopment dr(after a 1yr waitlist). He said he agrees with the eval and says she has some autistic characteristics. Hopes anxiety levels have been through the roof lately. Things she used to love she just freaks out now like going to pizza hut, and even going to playgrounds is out of the question anymore. I just dont get it. Her Tss starts in the middle of August, the dr said if tss cant help with anxiety within a few months he want to try meds also. which doesnt bother me if it will make her life easier.

I was just wandering if thers anything else I should be doing for her.
THanks again for any help.

Hi there.. I just posted on the other thread here... but I do have a son with a dual dx. He is 8 now.

I think you are doing great! Identifying that there might be things in the way of learning is the first step... and helping her get around those things is a GREAT place to start. I find it's a constant ebb and flow for us. And I am always conveying to the schools what happens at home or what WE see so they know how Russell is.

good luck!

A.

The anxiety levels are a big issue with PDD. Mikey hates change and unpredictability. Try making a picture schedule and keep it on the wall so that Hope always knows what is coming up next. That might help her.
