I've been teaching Daniel to drink from a straw in the last couple of weeks, he just switched to the sippy cups and he is doing good but the therapist told us, the straw and the regular cup were so much better for oral motor.
So yesterday we went to eat with my parents to TGI Fridays (Which by the way has a very good platter called double stacked quesadillas, AWESOME )
Anyways, I was giving Daniel the straw full of water pinching the other end and he would suck, but then he would bite it when I would just put in his mouth and it was inside the cup.
We were also showing how to do it and making like a slurp sound thinking this was good for him to learn, but he would start cracking up laughing. So I just held the cup low and put the tip of the straw in his mouth and left it there for a little bit and BAM: HE DID IT, HE SIPPED ABOUT THREE TIMES We must have looked like four crazy people clapping in the middle of TGIs but Daniel was so proud, clapping for himself and everything
The next step is open cup, I bought this awesome cup that just lets a little bit out, he still spitting out a little bit but not so bad.
An another little brag, He is eating almost everything we eat, he is completly off baby food. The only thing he hates is rice, I'm not sure if he just doesn't like it or just a sensory thing, I'll keep trying.

Yailet,
Could you please tell me about the cup you just bought that lets a little liquid out at a time?

I still have one of the cups on the original package, I will scan it tomorrow and post the picture here.
I bought them for 2.99, I will check if the store where I got them still has them, so if you guys are interested I can buy it for you guys, and send it in the mail.

WTG Daniel! And great job with the eating too.
It was great when Reuben started drinking from a straw. It makes it so much easier. As long as I have a straw he can drink! No leaky sippy cups! Yay!
