I get the emails...I don't go on the board. The one email was Dixie ranting and raving about some parent who took their kid off NTD and this parent supposedly admits that the kid has been worse off since being off the NTD, but the parent won't put the kid back on it. So then another parent chimes in and says, "I did the same thing." So then this parent and Dixie go at it and someone else asked why there are no studies, so Dixie and that Richard Mueller posted some studies...those are what I found interesting.

None of the studies are significant. There are no double blind studies and nothing other than some anecdotal evidence from a few pediatricians (even though Dixie routinely mocks pediatricians for their lack of knowledge). An example from one study shows an increase in Vitamin A and E levels among children on TNI but the children not on TNI had normal levels of both. The ranges for IgA levels (which seems to excite everyone) were wildly variable. Some children not on TNI had levels that were more than twice as high as some of the children on TNI. And the studeis they are quoting are 5 years old or more. I have been waiting for 9 years for a double blind study. It is obviously not going to happen.
Here is the quote from Dixie:
Quote: |
Lisa, go to Pubmed.com and do your own research. Actually, you
should probably set aside a few years for intense research on the
subject of gene overdose and what such overdose does to the human
body. Then I doubt seriously if you'd be talking like you do. |
In other words, anyone who disagrees with Dixe is misinformed and needs to do years of research before she will talk to you.
Maybe I'm just too cynical but I have been around long enough to see that nothing has changed in the TNI world in 10 years. No significant studies have been done in the last 10 years in spite of the millions of dollars being spent on Nutrivene and MSB+.

I agree that Dixie's attitude is her way or the highway.
VDwight...if you want to PM me your email address, I can forward some of these "study" emails to you.

thanks for the offer of emailing the studies, but Tom says they're insignificant, and I trust that!
My son is 10 and this is the stuff we heard from day one. I tuned it out a long time ago, but thought maybe they'd finally done a real, hard-science study.
My son was on TNI for about 6 months when he was a baby -- he turned orange, and that was about the only difference I noticed. He has a friend the same age who has been on TNI and piractam since he was a baby -- there is nothing to distinguish the two kids. Aidan (my son) is a grade ahead of his friend, his speech is way better. His friend does slightly better than Aidan academically, but these are all variables you would find with any two kids.
thanks again

Thanks, I have now paid attention to some of those posts. It seems to be another case of a parent thinking their way is the only way and everyone else is wrong if they don't do the same thing. I can't stand it when parents are like that about any topic!

I agree with that. I couldn't care less what others do with there children - I am only Mom to Carson. If they have a good idea I will try it, but, I can certainly understand either choice.
