Hello everyone!

I am so glad I found this site. I am mother to two beautiful boys, Gage and Nathan(DS). We did not know until about 10 minutes after he was born that he had Down Syndrome. They immediately noticed some facial features and also they were getting a lot of mucous from his nose and mouth. They did a bedside ultrasound that showed the "bubble" that is common with duodenal atresia. X-Ray confirmed the atresia and from that moment on everyone (the doctors and nurses) always referred to him as "he has down syndrome" and "this is common in babies with Down's". Of course a week later the test's confirmed the suspicions.

When he was a day old he was transferred to Johns Hopkins and they fixed his atresia and also did a Ladds procedure and removed his appendix. He did wonderfully after his surgery. HE was in the Nicu for two weeks and the pediatric intermediate care unit for almost a week. He started having some desaturations in his oxygen while he was in peds so he came home on oxygen.

He came home when he was one day shy of 3 weeks. He has really brought more joy already in his 3 little months than we ever could have imagined! We have found a great support group here in Frederick. The people are really great! We are taking things day bey day and are willing to do whatever is needed of us for this wonderful little boy. I don't know that I would have asked for him any other way.

Your boys are too cute!!! I love the hair! My husband would love the mohawk effect. He's obsessed with them! I should post the picture of Ethan being very ticked off at how Daddy did his hair one day- very "Flock of Seagulls-ish"! Actually, let me look and see if I have that on photobucket...***shucks, I don't! I will look later though***

Alicia I approved your membership last night and when I saw your post this morning I was SO excited. Just want everyone on this board to know that I GET TO HOLD THIS BABY TOMORROW NIGHT BECAUSE HE WILL BE AT MY HOUSE. I steal him at every meeting and get together. He is so cute and you know I am madly in love with him. Gage and Noah hit it off really well too!!!!! I'm so glad you joined!!!

Love the hair- Sadie had something like that when she was born- we called it her "Turk Hair" from Tarzan. I think it is because it is sooooo fine. Welcome and looking forward to getting to know you a little better.
