Feeding questions - can anyone help??

I'm hoping someone might be able to help me on this one...

our son is 4 months old. he's always been a good bottle feeder. every once ina while he'll have a meltdown while feeding but its usually due to wind.
the last week or so he has been really cranky in the afternoons. he'll seem to be hungry but he'll take a few sucks of the bottle and then scream. Its not wind and he's definitely hungry. he's also had quite runny nappies (while usually he has constipation).
Could this be teething??? we gave him the nelsons teething powder (its a homeopathic remedy of chamomilla) and it calms him almost instantly.

also, when we feed him he takes half the bottle and then wants to chat for a while!! he'll smile and laugh and babble away at you. could this be a diversion tactic because he doesnt want his bottle?? Very Happy

thanks!

just wondering if maybe it could be silent reflux? is he arching his back any? here's a definition posted by Leah awhile back;

Silent reflux is when they reflux but swallow it back down so you never even really know it happened, but once in awhile you'll get a whiff of vomit smell, etc. The trouble with silent reflux is their esophagus gets a double dose of acid...once when it comes up, and twice when they swallow it back down.

also, here are some threads on reflux;

Sounds like he might have some sort of tummy bug. If it continues I would take him to the doc and get him checked out. Unless you have made other changes in his diet, it is very unusual for a baby to change from constipated to runny poo unless there is something wrong.
Four months is very early for teething so I would think it is unlikely. If he is stopping mid-feed but is still happy he could be feeling a bit bloated - enough to stop him feeding but not enough to make him unhappy. THis may also indicate a tummy bug of some sort.

I would think he might be teething, especially if the teething remedy is working and his nappies are pretty runny/wet. Is he drooling as well? As for the socializing, Charlie started doing that at about your son's age. Lately, I can only feed Charlie at home in a quiet, preferably dim room. There is just so much to look at and talk about! thanks for the replies. I read those other posts and it doesnt sound uncommon to start teething at 4 months...
he is drooling a lot more lately. every few mins i have to wipe around hos mouth with a bib. yesterday i put my knuckle in his mouth and he had a good old bite of it!
so i think it could be teething.
