PJ has been giving us a run for our money lately when it comes to napping. Basically, he doesn't nap anymore. He'll play up in his bed for hours, never falling asleep! Usually we just bring him back downstairs, thinking he's almost three, maybe he doesn't need a nap anymore. Well, right now at 6:30, as with many other nights, he's passed out on the couch! Look....here he is....still holding his star stacker! Any suggestions/comments?!

What time does he go to bed? Maybe he needs to go to bed earlier (6:30?) for a while? I really don't know . . . that's just a thought.
We've recently stopped Logan's naps (he's 3 1/2) due to his preschool schedule. He now goes to bed between 7:15 and 7:30 and he gets up around 6:30 each morning. We keep this same schedule on the weekends, too.

aaaaaaaaahhhhhhh the classic "In between" stage of needing and not needing a nap. They don't get one and they're bears and asleep far too early. The get one and they never go to sleep. Very frustrating stage, and very very normal!
Hang in there! It'll last for a couple of months.

When my oldest was in that stage we did a nap about every two or three days. She just could not make it all week wihout one. We also would hve to keep her busy so that she wouldn't fall asleep before bedtime. IT is really hard sometimes, but you know what stimulates your child and what does not. For Avery TV is good as well as playing outside, bathtime, and being away from home. Backpacks and strollers are bad and the swing is no good either. The nights he does not nap, try a more stimulating activity around 6:00 or so and try to get him to lay down every few days.

I agree with the others. You can't force PJ to nap. Matt hasn't for a few months, and before that, would nap every third day or so - but only for 10mins otherwise he was up all night!!!
If he falls asleep at 6.30, can't you just put him up to bed then? Does he sleep through if you do that? 6.30 is a pretty normal bedtime for some kids. And as he gets older, and less desperate to drop at that time, then just make the bedtime a bit later again.
