Lisa (danielsmommy) and I are still going to meet in Maryland sometime next month. We need to work out a date. We had originally planned on getting together and invited other Downsyn friends to join us. It seems that Pittsburg works for a lot of people, but it just would not work for Lisa and since it was her post that got the idea rolling in the first place, we will miss everyone that wants to go to Pittsburg.
Anyone still interested in joining us in Maryland is welcome to! Either way, friends are going to get together and what a fun time it will be for all who can meet up!

Well, if Pittsburgh does not work for everyone, maybe we can all do MD or Hershey? and I am sure the Pittsburgh folks would be willing to do Hershey? We had a really good time a few years back in Hershey with allot of families from Down Syn. We had Families from Ohio, Pittsburgh, PA, MD, NJ...

Does Hershey have things to do indoors? I think that we need to find a place that will be fun for the kids as well as warm since it will be quite chilly by November!
Hershey is not a problem for me or Lisa- we just thought that the Children's Museum in Baltimore would be great for the kids.

Hershey does have the Indoor Choc Factory. Its about a one hour Tour! It was allot of fun for our Kids and they were small then. When we were in Hershey about 2 years ago. We arrived on Friday and had Dinner with Down Syn at a Local Restaurant. We all stayed at the hotel, so some of us met in the rooms so the Kids could play on Friday night. We went to Breakfast Saturday Morning (it was raining) and then we all went to the Choc. Factory. On Saturday night we reserved the Meeting room and the Guys played cards and the girls talked and the kids played. We all brought food to have on Saturday night. It was a really relaxed time and allot of getting to know each other! Our Hotel also had an indoor pool, so we spent some time in there.
In November in Hershey, They have the Candy Lane. Which is a drive thru Christmas light show! And they have a Christmas show with the Characters from Hershey Park! Just some other Ideas!
It was just an option. But I am sure MD has things to offer! I posted about the Children's Museum in the other thread!

Oh Kris! I just noticed that you were in NC.. I wish I would have known. I just came back from the Outer Banks! Maybe we could have met up with each other! How far are you from there?

I would LOVE to visit OBX! It is quite a distance for us though, so maybe next year! I think it takes close to 6 hours to get there from Winston-Salem.
Hope that you had a great time!

It took us about 7 hours! We rented a really big house for the whole family. It was really cheap because we went after season! But the whole week there I was thinking how great it would be if the DownSyn family could rent this house and we could all be together for the week!
Well, maybe next year!

Coleen, I posted about still having a Pgh get together sometime next month. By all means people could still do the MD or Hershey thing if they prefer that better. I do understand this was originally planned as a MD thing, but it seemed like some people were alot closer to Pgh than I realized, so I think April and I are still going to try and plan that for those who are still interested.

Steph,
I am still interested in the Pgh meet. However, Kristen and Lisa can not make it that far. Kristen was coming from NC and Lisa from RI. I just thought that Hershey was sort of a common ground! And that it would only be a few hours drive for everyone! And the more the merrier!
But I am up for anything! So let me know! I haven't seen Mikey since Hershey and you know I am busting! I know he has grown leaps and bounds and I am sure him and Nolan would really enjoy playing together now!

We understand Kristen and Lisa cannot make it this far, and they still want to do MD, I think thats a great idea! We did get alot of responses for Pgh, from the Ohio people and folks from other areas of Pennsylvania so we are going to try and get that together hopefully the 2nd or 3rd weekend of November. Hershey and MD sound great also, but like Pgh, they are not convenient for some, so we decided to something separate. Everyone and anyone is welcome, I agree the more the merrier, and I think its a fine idea to have more than one get together.
We would love to be able to visit with you and Nolan again!!! It has been way TOO long!!!

Well, there's no reason we can't do both! That way, people can travel as far or as little as they want.
For the OH people, Pittsburgh will definitely be shorter than going to Hershey or Baltimore. But for those of you up north or on the coast, it might be easier to go to Baltimore or Hershey.
This "family" of ours is so big, I think it would be impossible to find somewhere everyone could drive to!
I'm definitely up for hosting everyone in Pittsburgh for those who can make it here.

I'd be in for the MD meeting...although Alex is 15 and I don't know if that makes him too old for the group..But the Port Discovery Childrens museum is a great place...
