I truly wish I had taken a video camera to school with me, so you guys could have witnessed this for yourself. The minute we get into school, Noah's speech therapist comes running up to us to tell us that everyone in school was so glad to see Noah come back last Wednesday. Her daughter Emma is in Noah and Halle's class. That night at dinner she asked Emma what she was thankful for. Her daddy had had back surgery and so she said "I'm glad daddy's surgery is over and I'm GLAD that Noah is back at school". Then she said she went on to act like Noah was some sort of celebrity and said "and mommy Noah walked by my line and he said HI to ME, just to ME, and only ME", with her eyes all big like he was someone off the Disney channel. I had chills a mile high and a lump in my throat and couldn't say a word. Then we go in for the conference and their teacher went on and on about how wonderful Halle is and what a wonderful "BIG" sister she is to Noah, how helpful she is and how well she is doing. She said that Noah is like a little star in class, and everyone just loves him. She said that a little boy named Jack is in the class and that she had seen his parents earlier for their conference and they said that Jack came up to them and said he wished that he could be best friends with Noah, that Noah is ALL that he talks about. So the teacher is going to pair them up for some activities in the next few weeks. Then we met Jenna's mom and dad. Jenna has some learning problems, so she is in a lot of activities with Noah and her parents said that NOAH is the topic of every conversation at home. Jenna was there at the conference and she said "I love him", TOO CUTE. It was just so wonderful having all of these people tell you how much they love and adore your son, and then to have them tell us what a wonderful job, we as parents are doing with Noah . Sometimes I don't feel like I'm doing anything special, but when someone points out how well your child is doing and that part of that is because of the way you are raising your child, it makes you feel good. I cannot say enough good things about this school. It's like everyone goes out of their way to make things better for Noah, in all areas. The principal has even given Noah his office to eat lunch in, until he feels comfortable enough to eat in the lunchroom with the other children. Noah is doing really well, but sometimes it takes him a little while to get started with eating and the last thing I wanted was for him to be the center of attention when it came to eating, having all the kids staring at him, if he decided to throw a fit or anything, but he hasn't. He has been eating everything in his lunch with his aide by his side and they will be moving to the cafeteria probably next week. But I thought that was so nice of the principal to think of that even before we got the chance to ask him if Noah could eat privately until he got the routine down. They are just amazing. And his teacher said that Noah does, indeed, make her laugh every single day. Like we didn't know THAT was gonna happen!!!!! He is doing such a wonderful job and with getting more rest, having new glasses and eating so much more, he has improved so much since last year, just by being more alert and attentive.
So just wanted to share our great news about our wonderful Noah and Halle. I'm smiling huge right now!!!

Geez Vonda... I'm trying to cook dinner here and I can't see for the tears. How awesome to have that kind of support at school. You and Denny are great parents and Halle's a wonderful teacher, friend and cheerleader for Noah. Thanks for taking the time to share all of this...it's such an encouragement. I meet with PT tomorrow for Austin's IEP and I always dread these evaluations. Your post helps me realize that there are caring people out there that are wanting your child to do well and that love him for himself.

Well he is a celebrity - what did you expect?
It sounds like it's going really great for Noah there.
