FYI - I don't think I've seen this on here - and the Good Earth reminded me - that if you haven't read Disco for the Departed by Colin Cotterill - it is definitely worth looking at. I reviewed it on my blog (Shamptons) ages age. It is a detective novel in the style of Agatha Christie but set in communist Laos. The central sleuth is state coroner and one of his assistants is a man with DS. I like all of these novels but Disco is doubtless the one that has greater emphasis on the DS side of Mr Geung. Once you're done with the Good Earth - if you want to keep reading...

I just finished the latest in the series and reading about Assistant Geung felt very different now that I have Nava. I think the books are great ( living here in Laos makes them extra fun of course). But I was really wondering how others close to DS would respond to that character! Glad to hear someone else enjoyed.

Nava is just gorgeous! I am not sure that Cotterill makes you want to live in Laos necessarily .... alhtough I have heard that it is a beautiful place.
