The Great Nationwide Job Search of 2010...

A few weeks ago I had posted here looking for some information about Columbus, OH because I had a phone interview for a job there. That one didn't pan out, but since then I've gotten five more calls for phone interviews! Mark and I are both job hunting and we're both looking pretty much anywhere on the East coast and somewhat into the midwest.

Two weeks ago, I had a phone interview for a job in Americus, GA, and last week I had one for a job in Akron, OH. I have one this Friday for a job in Summerdale, PA (which is near Harrisburg) and in two weeks I have one for a job in Richmond, VA. I have another one that isn't scheduled yet in Gary, IN.

Whew! How wacky is all of that?!?!?

I'm trying not to get too excited. I got a rejection letter from a university in Tennessee telling me that had received 325 resumes for one position. Yikes! I remain ever hopeful, though!

So keep your eyes open, Lucy and her family might be moving to a town near you! Ha! Very Happy

Good luck with such a stressful process. Hoping something good turns up!

Summerdale is only about 15 minutes from us, Courtney - I hope you get that one. Not that I don't want you to get any of the others, but the one near us would be great!

Wow!! That is a lot of jobsearching. My hubby is looking for a job on our North Coast. Not easy in his field and he has had a couple of rejection letters, one interview (we drove up there for it) and a couple of jobs still in the pipeline. It is a stressful process not knowing where you will end up.

Thanks, everyone!

Maureen, I had wondered if you were nearby. The job is at Central Pennsylvania College. We are really interested in that area of PA, so I am super excited.

Leah, the phone interviews aren't too bad. They're usually just a half hour or so and from the comfort of my couch. The key is to schedule them during nap time, though! I don't think I sound as impressive when I've got two munchkins yelling "Mom, Up!" in the background! Ha!

Karyn, Good luck to you guys! My husband has been looking for work for almost two and a half years. His field has really been hit hard by the recession here in the US. He's struggling now with moving up in his field and making more money versus possibly looking into a new field and needing to start at the bottom again. It's a tough decision and it's been incredibly stressful.

Oh, Mary...he's going to be devastated! (Me, not so much...in fact I'm looking towards Boston just to be in Patriots country!!! ha!) It is very important to Mark that we end up near a baseball city, preferably National league! Smile
