Well almost two weeks ago we noticed Mazie seemed to be constipated so I brought her into the doc's . They confirmed it and gave us a sheet to fallow , we needed to give her an enema and the marilax 6pks in 36 oz of water in 3 hours. The enema was not easy but got it done and got most of the marilax down her, but it really didn't move things along very well. called the doc on Mon she ordered an x-ray to see where we are at and it showed sever constipation, now thinking back I think this as been a problem for awhile we have noticed from time to time she has looked bloated and I thought it was just something she had eaten, now keep in mind this whole time Mazie is in no pain at all no tummy ache or anything the doc think she has just desenceatised to it. gave her two enema's yesterday the first produced very little and the 2nd nothing at all . My question is have any of you had to deal with this problem and how was it resolved? any advice would be helpful. we have filled her up with fruit an raw veggie's tried all kinds of old remidies . The alternative if we can't get her moving is not good.

Melissa would get VERY constipated and nothing we did seemed to help. We fed her tons of fruit, high fiber breads and pasta. We gave her Miralax and other children's laxatives. Enemas did not always work either. Come to find out; she has Celiac.
Children with Celiac can have very loose smelly bowel movements. They can also be very constipated. It is not uncommon for them to go from one extreme to the other. That was the way it was with Melissa. Once she was gluten free; she was fine.
Once we took gluten out of her diet we also gave her pro-biotics for about a month or two. I just wanted to help her digestive system to heal.
She has been the only one in the family to be on the gluten free diet so far, but she's been finding and eating foods with gluten in them, so now she is constipated again. It's time to get ALL of the gluten out of the house, because her system can't handle even the smallest amount. I knew it would happen eventually. People with Celiac can't tolerate even the tiniest bit of gluten.
Have her tested. Even if it comes out negative, ( you can have a false negative.) I'd still try the gluten free diet to see if it helps. That is the BEST way, aside from an endoscopy to see if gluten is the culprit.
I hope this helps.
Michelle

Thank you for the advice, she has been tested and it was negative , but will see about testing her again. Just got a call back from the doc and she conferred with a gi doc and we are going to try meg citrate 10 oz once a day for 3 days along with another enema and hopefully that will work otherwise have to looking at going to the hospital and doing a procedure. The trick will be to get her to drink it. I'm going to stay optimistic im sure it will do the trick .. Thank you again

I know just how you are feeling. With having to give Austin enema everyday because it just won't move. I know it won't be fun to have her admitted just for that good clean out, but I think it might be the best and that way you can start from the begining. Sorry I'm not help. I'll say some extra prayers that she'll move it on her own. Huge hugs.

Same that michelle here, Gluten make tarek constipated but also MILK, milk is even worse for him plus he will get in a very BAD MOOD ( so he drink ricemilk) and he take PROBIOTIC, had been a miracle for him. He take Culturelle or PB8.

Hi Just wanted to update... It's been a crazy busy 2 weeks , but we finally got in to a really good GI doc and the did a clean out last friday. I was very nervous but it went great !! They now have her on Marilax 2 times a day. We had a routine visit to her Cardio doc yesterday and he said don't be surprised if she is on it for ever. She is a much happier little girl now!!! Thank you for all the advise

So glad things are going better. Mya has been on Mirilax since she was about 2. She takes it every day. I also give her probiotics and fish oil, and have been able to do the mirilax a little less. She was also just diagnosed Celiac, and am hoping we'll see more improvment with the gluten free diet. Best of luck to you:)

So glad she is better. I wish the Mirilax worked for Austin. I hate the enemas soooo bad.

Glad things are working out. Just an FYI, for my daughter non-Ds, always has had problems, she would only go once a week if that. She now takes 1 fiber gummy every day and she stays very consistant and has had not problems in 2 years. I buy them over the counter in the kids pharmacy aisle at Target or any grocery store. We live by them!

This was our issue for two whole years with Tiana. What really worked was feeding her papaya everday. she loves it and it does the trick.
