The deadline for submitting to the _Gifts_ book is just under two weeks away: AUGUST 1. Time is whizzing by, isn't it?
I would appreciate receiving submissions before the deadline if at all possible. I am trying to get the book printed in September, so the sooner everyone submits, the sooner we can all enjoy the finished product!
I am still accepting stories of all kinds, although I cannot promise that every submission will be included in the book. (to increase your chances of being included, avoid repetition of the topics outlined here:
http://giftsds.wordpress.com/2006/07/15/submissions-on-hand/)
At this point I am especially looking for stories which bring diversity and balance to the collection, as explained here:
http://giftsds.wordpress.com/2006/07/12/wanted-stories-to-bring-balance-and-diversity-to-_gifts_/
I'm also looking for stories which address the following topics:
--How your child's diagnosis affected your relationships with your extended family and/or friends. (Stories of how you dealt with negative reactions, as well as stories which illustrate how the diagnosis brought extended families closer together)
--How your relationship with your child impacted your relationship with another person in your life (e.g., learning to love/accept your child enabled you to love/accept one of your other children, your spouse, your rotten neighbor, your MIL, etc)
--A friendship that has developed through your journey with DS.
Write! Submit! This is a great project to be a part of!
Hugs to all,
Kathryn
