I posted an intro a looooong time ago but life got busy and I didn't have much time to post so I'll try this again...
My name is Patty and I am a very proud mom to 2 boys. Lucas is 8 and Justin is 4.5. My Justin happens to have DS. I didn't know about the DS until the day after he was born...quite a shock but we've dealt with it and are just loving life with our sweetheart!
Justin started preschool when he turned 3 and is starting his final year of preschool next week. He just loves school...I've been told that the teachers call him the "mayor". He walks the halls and waves to everyone! So typical of him...he's extremely social. Justin does very well with his development with the exception of his speech. Very delayed in that area. A year ago he was dx with Apraxia so it explains the severe delay. I was getting very frustrated with his lack of progress until just recently. Justin had huge tonsils...they were touching each other so the ENT said they need to come out...back in June he had them removed, his adenoids shrunk, and ear tubes put in (due to fluid). Well, let me tell you, within weeks I noticed a big difference in his speech...not so much new words but new sounds. He's had a great summer speech wise.
I live in Massachusetts and look forward to getting to know everyone!!!
Patty

Patty and family welcome back. I'm glad that Justin's surgery went well - that is great that sounds are clearer. My little man had tubes put in at 9 months. Looking forward to getting to know you better.

Hi Patti and welcome back - that sounds really interesting about the tubes....did you notice any hearing problems in him before the operation?

Hi Patty! Welcome to you. Our boys are the same age and sound so similar in many ways. Same preschool situation with the waving, etc. While William does not have apraxia, his speech is pretty much nil. He does vocalize quite a bit and says a few words.
Can't wait to see pictures and to hear more about your boys!
Welcome again!
Libby
