I haven't updated on Emeline for a while, so I'm doing that today.
She's 10.5 months, and has been sitting by herself since about 9 months.
She's been army crawling since about 8.5 months, but shows absolutely NO desire to crawl. She gets FURIOUS when the PT (or anyone) tries to put her on her knees in the crawling position. She would rather stand than sit. She loves to stand at the couch or the table, but hasn't tried to move from the standstill. She can pick up finger foods from her tray, and occasionally will do it with the 2-finger pinch, but more often uses the monkey grasp or raking action.
She has two teeth (botton two front). One is all the way in, the other is trying to decide whether it's coming or going back into hiding.
She signs "Daddy" and "milk," and I know she recognizes a lot more signs (Momma, doggy, eat/food, more, drink, and some others) but doesn't do them yet. Last week, Bill was gone all week, and when I was talking to him on the phone (on speaker) she said, "Da-da." He thought I had said it, and when I told him she had said it, he was SOOO thrilled!
Last night, when he came home from work, she did the sign for Daddy AND said "Da-da" simultaneously when he walked into the room. We both dropped our jaws and just looked at each other, like, "What?!?! Did you just see what I just saw?!?" It was a very fun moment.
She is fascinated by our Beagle Banjo, and will chase (army crawling) him across the room. He is so patient. She likes to go for his tail. He'll let her get to just within reach, and then he'll get up and move to the opposite site of the room, but she never gets mad, just turns herself around and heads back the other direction. It's funny to watch.

We still have some of the puppies, but she does NOT like them anymore, because of course they are rough and jump on her. As soon as I bring a puppy near her, she starts blowing raspberries nonstop, and squinting her eyes so she can barely see out. She'll keep doing it until I put the puppy away again...Another funny thing to see.
Another cute trick is when you whistle, she'll pucker her lips and suck air IN, until she makes this real high squeaky sound. Then she just laughs and laughs, like it's the funniest thing she's ever seen or heard!
We have a hot tub, and she LOVES LOVES LOVES it!! She splashes NON-STOP and blows bubbles, and last night, pitched a fit when we got out! I signed her up for swimming lessons at the YMCA. I don't know if she's too young or not, but I figured it couldn't hurt anything! (One of the parent-baby classes)
Right now, we get PT 2x/month and see the Early Education Teacher 3x/month. The ST just started coming 1x/month, starting this month. We have kind of gotten a little bit of the run-round on trying to get services, but I just persist and persist and I think they get tired of having me bug them! Oh well!
We had to have her evaluated by a psychologist this week, for applying for the MR waiver, and that was a VERY disheartening experience, but I'll talk about that in another post. All in all, I think she is doing GREAT!! (And I don't care what the dadgum psychologist says, anyway!!!)
Thanks for reading!
