Matt started school!

I decided, instead of moping, it was time to give my boy a little brag. With all that's been going on recently, I forgot to even post about this, but, anyway!

Matt started school last week, and he's loving it (as far as we can tell!). He's settled into the routine. He walks all the way to school, finds his classroom. He runs in, finds his name on the board (from about 25 different names - though it does help as there's 2 Matthews in the class!). Then he goes and sits on the carpet with the others!

He has 1 to 1 help for 3 hrs every day, so 2 1/2hrs he's just a regular member of the class. He's there 9 - 3.20 every day (no nap time!!!), and the teachers think he's doing fine. He's the only child with special needs in the class. He sits down and has his lunch with the others, and so far, he's only had 2 accidents (toilet-wise!) which is good, especially in a new environment.

The major downside is he doesn't even seem to notice the other children, he doesn't say goodbye or hello to me, or talk/sign to anyone. I'm hoping it will come, but his assessment for ASD starts next week. I know it's a long process, but hopefully it'll give us some answers. But the main thing is, he's settled and contented - and I'm getting time to spend with Hannah - something she's always had to share.

Anyway, just 2 photos of Matt on his way to his first day at nursery school!

PS - Thanks everyone for helping me out of my funk! Still hurts to think how much Matt has changed, but life goes on!

Helen...that's incredible. Matthew is only THREE! Keep the Faith Girl. He's doing great.

I haven't been on recently, but I wanted to check up on one of my favorite little men! Wink It sounds like he is taking to school very well. It's probably a nice change for him! I look forward to hearing how things progress for you later this month!
