I put this on Nicholas' care page after our Buddy Walk. And since then, two people have contacted me about donating. Not everyone we knew donated, but we were touched at the response we did have. Do you think it guilts people into donating?
Thanks.
We survived our first Buddy Walk!! (I have posted a couple of pictures.) It was cold (53 degrees) and wet, but we did it! There really was a good turnout even in the rain. (They announced that they had ran out of dough nuts and coffee.) We were so packed inside the pavilions, we didn’t have an opportunity to meet any other DS parents. It was great to see so many passionate people there though. The walk wasn’t even close to a mile. I think they shortened it because it was so soggy. Our troopers, Nancy, Mary and Connie did two laps though! (I think they are part duck - they didn’t seem to mind the rain.)
A GREAT BIG THANK YOU to all of you that supported us by donating AND especially to those who braved the weather to walk with us. THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!! I don't know an exact total, but between our on-line site and the donations we took in, it was $190. So I know it was way over $200!!! We don't know if we can ever express what it means to us. This was a very important event to us. It really lets us know people care and share this interest with is. It is an important event in Down syndrome communities all over.
Thanks again from the bottom of our hearts!!

I don't think it guilts people. Since our BW two weeks ago I've received some additional contributions. I think people are busy, and they may have meant to contribute ahead of time, but may have ran out of time - by posting on your website you still give people who want to contribute the opportunity to do so.

Thanks! I don't think so either...and I should have mentioned before that I felt like I hounded them prior to the BW. At least 3-4 posts brought it up - with one totally devoted to the BW. I just thought it was odd that they just now contributed.... I didn't want anyone to do it out of guilt.
Thanks again!!

I wouldn't take it that way. Just sounds like a good report on the day and a big thank you - no "guilting" that I can see
