ok Elias starte pulling to stand up on his crib 2 weeks ago, and past week he started crussing all around the crib, and he enjoys it. he's getting more confident about it. and he now is trying to pull to stand up everywhere but he cant yet
now my questions are
How long do your kid took for
1. cruising on fournitures?
2. walking with push toys?
3. standing up independently
i know, i may sound desperate, but im so excited about this, and family are starting to make a guess how long will take to Elias to do the big STEP.
THANX

Interesting thread!! I'll be interested to see what everyone has to say. We are also guessing over at our house when Daniel will be walking alone!!

I think Anna was pulling up and cruising at around 18 months. At 2 she would take a few steps if you begged and pleaded (and held out your arms). At 26 months she just took off and walked as her mode of transportation. I think she could have done it earlier but Anna is not a physically motivated child--she is just as happy to sit with a book as she is to get something else.

Abigail started cruising at about 18-19 monthes . She started the push toy about a month or so after. At about 20 months she could stand up in the middle of the floor. She is almost 25 months old and still not walking. She goes so fast bear crawling that I don't know when she will walk. I keep waiting and waiting.

Carol, it will happen just when you've given up--when she feels like it. Anna really started walking when for the first time she was in a big empty room with plenty of space to take off. Keep the faith.

Daniel started cruising around furnitures at 18 months
Took two steps at 19 months then would fall down.
Took 3-4 independent steps a week before he turned 21 months
and he was walking all over the place two weeks later.

Well, we're still waiting on the full fledged walking. But Grady started pulling up and cruising around 19-20 months. He started walking with a push toy a few months after that. And for the past few months he's been taking steps and letting go more and more. But he just hasn't taken off and walked on his own yet.

Sadie had such low tone that she didn't even sit independently until she was 13 months old. At around 20 months she started pulling up, 22 months letting go of furniture and standing briefly by herself, 24 months taking a few steps and now... just since the beginning of August.... she is standing up by herself in the middle of a room and taking 12 -18 steps with control. If she could only figure out that she can stop anytime and she doesn't have to walk to something else, I would call her a walker. It's coming, soon!!!!!

Robert started pulling himself up and cruising the furniture at 24 months last April.
He took his first three steps in August at 26 months. He's still using his walker and not walking unaided.
I think he'll be walking by Christmas! He'll be 32 months old then.
I think it takes a long time with our kids to master walking.....we have to be very patient.
It's so exciting when they do master it.....Go Elias go!

Benjamin walked for a month when he was sixteen months old and then gave it up to go back to his old style of travel (he hopped on his rear end using his legs to propel himself forward) until he was about 2 year old.

Reuben is like Grady and they are only a month apart! Reuben has been taking a few steps since JUNE! Mostly when coaxed. Just this past week he has been standing and taking steps on his own initiative. He will crawl within about 2-3 feet of where he wants to be and then stand and walk the rest of the way. Like Abigail he is a very fast bear crawler and that is so much more efficient for him. Especially when his toys are all over the floor!
I was really hoping he would walk for the Buddy Walk. He only has a week left! Reuben is almost 29 months old.

All I remember is that AJ walked acrossed our living room on his 2nd birthday. It was an event that is so vivid in my mind, maybe that's why I can't remember other things.

Adrian started pulling up on his crib very early even before he learned to sit on his own at 11 months. He started cruising pulling up at furnitures at 14 months, cruise on the furnitures round 16 months ( he's not a good crawler though, he travels by scuttling on his bottom propelled by his heels). Started standing unaided at 18 months, took few steps at 19 months and never looked back since. I was so thrilled and so was his physio.
I guess these kids have their own timelines and own reasons for doing these milestones and they have a knack of catching us off guard which most times takes our breath away.

Matt started walking with both hands held at 7mths, pulling himself up to standing at 8mths, and cruising around 13mths. He walked one hand held at 14mths, but didn't take his first independent steps until 18mths. And it took a further couple of months before he learnt to get to standing on his own. So it was 20mths when he was properly walking.
So from pulling himself up to standing, to walking independently took 12mths! Patience, as with everything with our kids, is the key!!!

Darah started cruising around 17 months, walked with a push-toy 10 feet without any assistance at 23 months, standing for 10 seconds unassisted around 19 months. She just recently started taking steps and at almost 26 months is taking up to 3 1/2 steps. The last step being a "falling step." Goodness knows I'm ready for her to take off walking!!!!! But I also know it'll happen when it's supposed to.
Edited to say....I don't know if Elias is like Darah, but she's an "over-night achiever." We call her our last minute gal because she won't show us any signs that a new milestone is about to happen and then she'll wake up one day and decide to do it. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if Darah started walking 25 feet tonight, but I also wouldn't be surprised if that doesn't happen until she's closer to 3 years old. She's so stubborn and does things on her very own timeline and NOTHING can make her change her mind!!! Down syndrome and me for a Mommy makes for one stubborn, strong-willed child!!

Ashlyn started army crawling before she could even sit up unassisted
She was army crawling at 9 months, standing at 14 months and she just started walking a couple of weeks ago at 20 months. She is now walking fairly well independently. She sounds alot like Darah, very very strong willed and will not do anything you want her to. It's her way, her time

Jenna was pulling up on furniture at around a year old. She was cruising at about 16 months. She now walks along the walls. She army crawled until 21 months then decided one day to get on all fours. She walks behind her push toy and can redirect it and pull it backwards and walk backwards with it for several steps. She gets her feet under her and stands on the bed bent over. She has weak ankles and has to wear the "sure steps". She also waits until I'm ready to give up before she suddenly does things. I think when she is ready she will just take off! She is doing a great job with sign language and words just as I was getting discouraged. All in due time. They all can be very different in their strengths and weaknesses.

Straight out of the baby book....
*Megan began crusing at 19 mths.
*Megan could stand by herself at 20 mths
*Megan could get up off the floor to stand by herself at 22 mths
*Megan took her 1st steps at 24 mths...(Lisa she was 26 mths when she walked to you in my living room...remember that )
*She walked but not full time from 24 mths to 31 mths
*At 31 mths she was walking full time.
Hope this helps!!!

Lacey started crusing the furniture at like 17 months..
She could stand by herself at 20 months..
She could get off the floor at 22 months.
She took her first step at 23 months but then took 14 steps in Atlanta for Stephanie & Bethany (after seeing Megan walk).
She was fully walking at 25 months...
It will happen when he is ready.. Just be patient~~

I believe that Alex started pulling up and cruising in about June and July of last year. He graduated to using a walker in September and October. He took his first lunging steps in December, and was walking quite well by himself by the end of January. It's a long process and it is hard to be patient because it does seem like the walking milestone is a really big one.
