We've heard different things about vitamin treatments for children with DS. Our doctor did not recommend but there are always those doubts that maybe they can help. Nathanael is very delayed in speech and sometimes I just want to make sure we're trying everything there is for him. I truly believe that he does things on his own time (as he has in the past) but I never want to feel like we could have done something different.
Just wondering if anyone has any feedback.

Great question. This is really a hot-button topic. The moms who do nutritional therapy swear by it, the moms who don't swear by that decision, too. Just FYI there is a complete forum on this subject, go down to "specialty topics" and you'll see "TNI and Piracetem" for more info.
We give all our children a gummy vitamin (without iron) and I try to pay special attention to good nutrition (whole foods, brain foods, healthy organic choices.) I am following the advice given in Joan Guthrie Medlen's excellent book, "The Down Syndrome Nutrition Handbook." I also spoke with our doc about it, and researched on the web a bit, here, and also at Dr. Len Leshin's website, ds-heath.com. I decided to try and pay special attention to diet first, and it's seemed to work well for us, so I see no need to change it up.
In the end, I think it's a very personal choice. There are moms who support each side of it on these boards, and each choice has its risks and rewards. It's important to remember that all our kids are unique, too, so what one mom loves for her kids may not do anything at all for yours.
Good luck! I am always looking for information on this topic!
