Our doctor just left me a message after reviewing Payton's blood work and he believes she is iron deficient. Aren't our kids supposed to have TOO MUCH iron, not TOO LITTLE?! Anyone else have experience with this?

Bethany,
I would definitely ask Dr. L. I remember him talking about something in the way our kids metabolize iron that they don't need as much or something???

Dr. L is actually who told me of the concern. I have to wait til tomorrow morning to call him back and see what he thinks we should do. Her CO2 is also low, and he mentioned something about that as well. So I'm not sure????

Oh, then please keep us posted. Hoping it's nothing more than maybe she needs more iron fortified food.

Daniel's iron was low after heart surgery. He had to take iron drops (nasty!!) for 2 weeks and then once his numbers came up, we could stop giving it to him.
Keep us posted!!

Janna keeps a low hemoglobin but it was proven NOT to be from Iron deficiency. but this is what Sarah's (sarah'smom) been dealing with. has Payton had anything viral lately? that can cause lower #s. let us know what you find out - praying it's just nothing but a little low. aj
