I am blessed. I get to go and spend the weekend with some wonderful families at Victory Junction Gang Camp. If you have never heard of VJGC, I highly recommend that you visit their website at http://www.victoryjunction.org/
I will be a "Crew Chief". I will be hands-on with one family with a member who is physically disabled. I am sure that I am going to walk away from the experience with even more love and admiration for the families out there who have faced the challenge of a disability head on and conquered it.
I will be sure to let you know how it goes.

Our PT told me about this camp. He suggested for me to check it out to see if Justin could go. I am looking forward to hearing about your experience. Can't wait!!!

So how was it??? I am anxious to hear! I saw a billboard advertising Victory Junction a while back and looked around on their website. For some odd reason, I didn't think that DS qualified...but it DOES!!! So I printed off the application today and will hopefully be sending it in for one of the family weekends in the spring!! There is no way I would send Ashlyn off by herself, but I would love for our family to go for the weekend trip!
thanks for posting this!

Ok, I had the BEST time! I am so, so tired though! I am uploading my pics now to create a montage for my family.
YES, there will be a Down Syndrome week or weekend next year! I am so excited! There is also a heart weekend that some of our kids would qualify for! It is just an amazing place. I have been there many times, but this is my first weekend to volunteer working with the families. What a blessing- an absolute blessing.
And, if any of you are NASCAR fans, Richard Petty has to be one of the nicest men you will EVER meet (with really white teeth! ) Post pics soon!

That is great that you had a good time. It probably was a much needed break and very rewarding. WTG.
