Well tonight my hubby and I met with the LEA and Principal at Briar's school. We came to discuss how Briar was doing and why they would not hold him back in kindergarten. Well we took with us a advocate. She was wonderful. The LEA told me she would not dicuss anything about Briar's IEP. She would not dicuss anything about Briar. She told my husband that she never said what I said she said. I could not belive my ears. Anyway, I just had to vent. I could go on and on but I will not. How can these people live with themselves? I just do not understand.

Thanks for listening!!!!

Lori, so sorry you're having trouble with this. It's so frustrating! I'm sure it almost makes you want to move to another school district!

Bummer.. sorry you had this happen. If your advocate didn't suggest it, I'd suggest you start to document everything you request in writing and do follow up letters to all talks and meetings, ect in writing... to which they should be writing YOU back with responses.. that will hold them more accountable and give you proof and ammunition if need be. I can gaurantee their words will change if you make sure it's all in writing and hold them accountable.

Sadly, this does happen when we have conversations.... and the parents look like the ones in the cold. I haven't had it done to me personally but it happens more times then not. It SUCKS! So, document, document, document!

HUGS!!!!

A.

A LEA is the special education director at our school. She has alot of control about what happens at school.
