A Mikey Brag - Learning to add

It's been a while since I have bragged about my little guy. This year he is starting a first grade program of reading and math. Last night he had homework and he sat down with his aide and answered all his math problems correctly! His teacher is thrilled with his progress. She always knew that Mikey was smart but the autistic tendencies get in the way of his learning. But now he is in much more control of himself. His ABA program has made a huge difference.

Wow, that's fantastic! So can/will he write? Matt won't even hold a pen - too fixated with the hole in the lid! That's a great brag

Mikey makes a letter "M" for his name but that is really all he can write. His problem is fine motor. I'll scan in his homework so you can see how he did.

He does his math homework by having all the numbers from 1 to 10 already written on pieces of paper. His job is to select the correct piece of paper and glue it to the answer sheet.
