I THINK A GOOD (IDEA) FOR A FORUM WOULD BE WHERE WE CAN SHARE OUR CREATIVE AND INOVATIVE IDEAS THAT HAVE HELPED IN THE CARE OF OUR CHILDEN, OR ENRICHED, OR MADE THINGS EASIER FOR US, OR THEM. I HOPE THAT MADE SENSE!!!!!!
EXAMPLE: I CAME ACROSS A COOL WEBSITE THAT I WANTED TO SHARE WITH EVERYONE! http://www.BEYONDPLAY.COM
EXAMPLE: I HAD AN IDEA TO HELP OUR CHILDREN (WHO ARE NOT SITTING UP ON THEIR OWN YET) SIT UPWRIGHT IN THE GROCERY CART IN ONE OF THOSE COVERS TO PROTECT THEM FROM GERMS.
(I CUT 2 SLITS IN THE BACK OF THE CLOTH GROCERYCART COVER
SEWED AROUND THE SLITS SO THEY WONT RIP, AND BOUGHT ONE OF THOSE 'TAKE ANYWHERE STRAPS' FROM http://www.BEYONDPLAY.COM , 2ND PAGE IN THE POSITIONING SECTION, AND FIT IT THROUGH THE SLITS
IT HOLD THEM COMPLETELY UPWRIGHT, AND THEY ARE SAFE FROM THE GROCERY CART GERMS.
IT COULD BE ANY IDEA, WEBSITE YOU FIND COOL, TV SHOW THE KIDS LOVE OR EVEN A COOL NEW TOY YOU FOUND!!!
HOPE THIS ALL MADE SENSE!!!!!!!!!
LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK.

Think that would be a great idea. So much comes under general, that you often miss stuff.
I was thinking of an idea for a forum/chat thing too. I guess I'm wearing my youthworker hat here, hence the reason for the suggestion. It's not for me, Rachael is way too young, but I was thinking there are a lot of people here who have older kids, and a brother/sister forum would be great for them.
Some kids do find it hard, sometimes, having a sibling with DS, and it would give the kids the opportunity to chat about what bothers them, what they enjoy, and basically chat about anything. We, as adults, have this board, but there seems to be nothing out there for older siblings, who may be feeling many of the emotions we feel, and just want to meet others in the same boat as themselves.
Just another idea, and I know it owuld have to be more thoroughly 'policed', but at least if it were open to our kids (ie members of this board) I would have thought it would be helpful - especially for lads who often find it so hard to talk facetoface about what's bothering them.
It would be good if one of the young people out there would be up for it, and help modify it, so that us adults wouldn't get in their way, and look as if we're listening in on their conversations. I don't know how it would work, just think it woudl be a valuable extra on here.
What do you others think?

i quite like the idea of a suggestion forum where people can suggest things that may be of help to others
that idea about the grocery cart has been posted on another thread many a time so it would be quite useful to someone to know about that.
and also you could suggest websites that you have found something of interest at ie a toy or a book, or some clothes etc
yes good idea jacksmom

Beth (Mikey's Sista) suggested a sibling forum.

Sorry missed that then Tom. Beth's already thought of it - sensible young lady!
But recently a couple of people have said their kids might like to email each other, and with Beth having joined, it would just make sense. I think I sort of thought about it more, too, because of Beth's joining.
Can I ask then, to the people with older siblings 10 plus-ish (?), would your kids be interested? Would they like to use it to form friendships with people all around the world? And talk about the issues that affect them - how to handle any bullying or ignorance from their classmates about their sibling with DS, their hopes, dreams and worries about their sibling. I guess some may might feel a bit left out as if life revolves around their sibling with DS, and would be able to talk about this.
I hope it's not just me thinking its a good idea. Any thoughts everyone else?
Helen

Sounds like a great idea-I am sure some of the older children would love to get together with others, if they are anything like their parents who use this site, anyway!
