My twin sister Louise and I would welcome some prayers of support over the next few months.
She was diagnosed with breast cancer last Friday. It was a very hard blow for us.
My sister is seperated from her hubbie so she asked me to go with her.
She had a PET scan last Tuesday and the news is good... the cancer is only in her breast area.
Next Tuesday we go to see the Oncologist, chemo will start the week after that, all going well.
They plan to give Louise six rounds of chemo and then she'll have surgery.
This news has hit hard....my sister is seperated from her hubbie and raising her two boys aged 7 and 8.
I have requested an appointment for a mamogram for myself.
With the holiday it will be next week before that is confirmed.
Could I ask you to keep Louise in your prayers over the next few weeks as she faces into this marathon journey.
Could you also say a prayer that my mamogram is clear so I have the strength and health myself to support her at this time.
I will update you on my test results.....thanks you very much my friends.
**********Update Wednesday 14th Apirl*********
Thanks everyone for the prayers and support.
We saw the oncologist last week and she started her first chemo session today.
All is well and she is at home resting.
In total she'll have a full year of treatments...chemo, surgery, radium and then more chemo.
She is seeing this like a marathon and preparing herself for the long journey ahead.
She is taking it one day at a time!
After talking with the oncologist my risk of getting breast cancer is the same as any other women!
I was shocked at the statistics on breast cancer in women.....ONE in TWELVE will get breast cancer in our lifetime!
Based on those stats alone he suggested I should get a mommogram done.
Mine is scheduled for 29th April.....I'll update you on my results in early May.
Its been a stressful day but thank God all went well.
Thanks for all the kind words and support my Friends.
The joureny begins.....

******Update Friday 7th May ********************************************************
I got news this morning that my mammogram is all clear.
I was afraid to telephone my doctor holding onto the thought that no news was good news!
I took my sister for her second round of chemo today.
She is coping well all things considered.
Thanks everyone for the prayers.

I'm sorry to hear this about your sister. I am glad that they were able to detect it and hopefully it was early enough to treat it and get rid of it quickly without too mush discomfort. I'll Pray she comes out of this crisis victorious and that your mamagram is clear so you don't have to fight this too. Stay stong.

Many prayers Linda. I have a dear friend in the US who is in year 4 of remission. She had her treatments in Boson and as a result of her experience...she has become a HUGE advoate for research in this area of breast cancer. She has raised a TON of money in her efforts and I know some of her treatments have been with very new technology. She was tested and has the gene that predisposes her to breast cancer.
She is an AMAZING woman...and coincidentially is Irish and has traveled to Ireland several times. If you or your sister would like to chat with her and learn about her experince and what treatments she has had...I can surely pass along emails to put you both in contact.
Lots of love and prayers my friend.

It sounds like your sister has a long, difficult year ahead of her and you will be right there by her side - she is very blessed to have your support through all this especially with her situation with her husband. Both of you will continue to be in my prayers. Please keep us updated.
