I came across this blog while looking for any ties Oprah has to DS.
http://caring4caydence.blogspot.com/2010/07/oprah.html
I of course submitted a request immediately. I think all of us should! Bombard them with this idea so they can finally do a story on it!
P.S. I hope the blog owner doesnt mind that I posted this here!

I just did. I really think that the only way to conquer fear is through knowledge, it would be awesome if we could use Oprah as a platform.

I couldn't find a link for facebook, but I just did a search with "Oprah Down Syndrome" and it popped up right away as an event.

I wrote both Oprah and Ellen last year right around the time we were preparing for the buddy walk to see if they would dedicate a show or air time in October - DS awareness month but I never heard back. I will write another letter now. Hopefully with everyone writing, she might just do it.

Well, I thought it was a wonderful letter! You weren't asking for a hand out or a new car or anything like that -- you were wanting to educate the public on down syndrome and your story REALLY touches the heart. I hope that Oprah (or someone on her staff) takes the time to read it and finds it in their heart to create a wonderful show.
One of the reasons I love Oprah's show is because it IS often times very educational. I've learned a lot about families by watching this show and it's actually helped me with my studies (just as a side note).
I really hope you get what you ask for. A beautifully written letter like that shouldn't get tossed away. Good luck!

I've always said Oprah needs to do a show on DS, but I never knew about this site. I'm definately going to write a letter. Thanks for sharing:)
