I have a great idea for an invention that someone should make--a little snack machine that will give one snack at a time when a lever is pushed (kind of like the ones they use in lab experiments with mice ) I can't just give Ali a bunch of pieces at a time, because she will attempt to stuff them all in her mouth at once I don't know how she would do with one of those snack cups with the flaps--haven't tried it yet.

We have a snack trap and it really helped. She can't usually get a whole fist out of the cup, she does get more than one cheerio or goldfish, but just a few. When I used it with blueberries, she could only get one at a time!

Here's a secret: Don't put your ideas out here on the web! Honest....I'd be so rich right now!
You know the sketcher shape ups????????
Four or 5 years ago I had Angela into the orthotist. Angela has an unusual gate and walks with a slap slap slap of her feet. One day I said to her orthotist, "I wish we could figure out a way to make a shoe that had rounded bottoms that would force her to walk in a heal-toe pattern."
Guess what orthotist developed shape-ups? Every time I see them I want to vomit. And the REAL kicker? The smallest size they come in is a size 6, and Angela wears a size 1 1/2.

I had the same problem with Grady FOREVER. We literally had to sit at the table with him, during snack time, and give him one piece of food at a time. It was SO frustrating. He eventually learned but man I remember being so frustrated.

We use a cup that has a lid that they reach into. It is big enough for tiny fingers but small enough they don't consume an entire fistfull of (in our case cocoa puffs)

You would never expect a random comment to make someone else rich!!!
I saw some of those the other day and commented on them to my son. They would be good for my husband who slaps his feet down too.
I still have to feed some things to Talitha piece by piece although she is great with most things now. Apple is one thing we do piece by piece because otherwise she gets too much in her mouth, chokes and then spits everything out. Other things are M&Ms which she doesn't get very often but we have to do them one by one too.
